Alguns cães nunca tiveram a chance de serem inocentes. Eles são os que cresceram na rua, dependendo da instinto para sobreviver. Krista é uma delas. Por anos ela viveu sozinha, responsável por tudo, sua comida, sua água, seu sono, encontrando um lugar para se refrescar no verão e se aquecer no inverno. Ela realmente não tinha outra opção. A encontramos doente. Seu corpo estava em muito mau estado, problemas de pele, leishmaniose. Como paciente, ela foi excepcional e muito cooperativa, e fez uma recuperação completa. Ela tem ficado conosco no abrigo desde então. Krista é um cão dócil. Silencioso e muito doce, ela entende muito, sabe como funciona uma caminhada, está confortável com a coleira e se adapta facilmente a uma rotina. Seu passado a ensinou a ser autossuficiente, e ela não pedirá mais do que precisa. Ela também tem um hábito que amamos. Uma vez por dia, ela faz sua própria pequena volta de vitória ao redor do abrigo, passando diante dos canis com energia, como se estivesse dizendo: "Eu sou Krista, e estou bem." E ela tem todo o direito disso. Ela mereceu. Pode levar um pouco de tempo para ela se abrir em uma nova casa, e no início ela pode ser um pouco hesitante ou achar um bairro movimentado com muitas pessoas e carros esmagador. Mas ela chegará lá. Ela se dá bem com outros cães, embora sua personalidade seja forte e confiante perto de outros animais. Krista está buscando uma pessoa que compreenda o que significa compartilhar sua vida com um cão que aprendeu a se virar sozinha. Um cão assim valoriza profundamente tudo o que você lhe oferecer.

Some dogs never had the chance to be naive. They are the ones who grew up on the street, relying on instinct to survive. Krista is one of them. For years she was on her own, responsible for everything, her food, her water, her sleep, finding a place to cool down in the summer and stay warm in the winter. She did not really have another option. We found her sick. Her body was in very poor condition, skin issues, leishmaniasis. As a patient, she was exceptional and very cooperative, and she made a full recovery. She has been with us at the shelter ever since. Krista is a gentle dog. Quiet and very sweet, she understands a lot, knows how a walk works, is comfortable on the leash, and adapts easily to a routine. Her past has taught her to be self-sufficient, and she will not ask for more than she needs. She also has a habit we love. Once a day, she does her own little victory lap around the shelter, passing in front of the kennels with energy, as if she is saying, “I am Krista, and I am doing well.” And she has every right to. She has earned it. It may take her a little time to open up in a new home, and at first she might be a bit hesitant or find a busy neighborhood with lots of people and cars overwhelming. But she will get there. She is fine with other dogs, though her personality is strong and confident around other animals. Krista is looking for a person who understands what it means to share their life with a dog who learned to stand on her own. A dog like that deeply values whatever you offer her.
