Hilda este un câine mare de rasă română croit. Pasaportul ei spune că a fost născută în februarie 2019, dar pare puțin mai în vârstă decât șase ani. Am fost o parte din viața Hildei și ea a fost o parte din viața noastră timp de ani. A fost în întâmpinarea privată din Crivatu România în prima noastră vizită și a rămas acolo până în 2024. Povestea cum a ajuns să fie salvată, dacă este adevărată, este prea groaznică pentru a fi scrisă, așa că voi spune doar că a trecut prin multe și, deși se teme în mod înțelept de oameni, ne tratează cu blândețe. Hilda este un câine mare cu o prezență calmă. Se mișcă cu grație și poziție și este destul de regală în comportament. Va evita străinii dacă poate, dar odată ce se obișnuiește cu oamenii din casă va alege să stea aproape de ei și totdeauna pare că vrea să vină la alintare, dar nu e încă pregătită. Când mergi la ea, este fericită să fie alintată și îmbrăcată și se va adormi cu capul pe genunchiul tău. Hilda nu are multă disponibilitate pentru plimbări și nu dorește să meargă mai mult de cincisprezece minute. Nu știm dacă este o criză de încredere sau o problemă de mobilitate, este un câine dificil de citit. Merg pe coardă bine, dar poate intra în panik când este speriat, așa că căutăm o casă rurală pentru ea, deoarece nu va putea suporta multă trafic sau mulțimi. În ciuda fricii, Hilda este un câine blând, va avea nevoie de un mediu calm și liniștit fără copii sub doisprezece ani și cu cel puțin un alt câine. Oricine consideră adoptarea ei trebuie să fie calm și pacient în câștigarea încrederii ei, iar poate niciodată să se deschidă complet față de oameni din cauza grozăviilor trecutului ei. Taxe de donație pentru adoptare Din 1 decembrie 2025 sunt Pui deja sterilizați și toți câinii adulți: £430. Pui ne-sterilizați pe contracte de sterilizare: £530 (veți primi un ramburs de £100 după ce ne trimiteți dovezi ale sterilizării). Câini bătrâni (peste 10 ani): £150–£250 (în funcție de vârstă și nevoile individuale). Condiții și termene de adoptare Când adoptați un câine de la Safe Rescue, trebuie să folosiți o curea de tip slip. Aceasta va păstra câinele vostru în siguranță: câinele nou adoptat va fi nervos și nu va avea încredere în voi, iar voi nu veți ști ce situații ar putea deranja câinele. Dacă câinele vostru intră în panik, atunci o curea slip este singura modalitate de a preveni fugirea câinelui (multe câini pot fugi din colier și/sau harns). Va dura cel puțin 3-6 luni pentru ca câinele să se adapteze și să-l cunoașteți pe deplin (mai mult pentru câinii nervoși). Curea slip trebuie întotdeauna folosită în această perioadă de adaptare. Chiar și după ce câinele s-a adaptat, este mai sigur să folosiți curea slip în situații în care câinele ar putea deveni speriat (ex: vizite la locuri noi, în jurul oamenilor necunoscuți, la medicul veterinar), și în situații în care ar putea apărea declanșatori neprevăzuți (ex: în apropierea zilei de focuri de artificii). Câinii nervoși pot purta mereu o curea slip ca măsură de siguranță suplimentară. Curea slip este un dispozitiv de siguranță și nu trebuie niciodată folosită ca instrument de antrenament. Folosirea curelei pentru a aplica presiune asupra gâtului câinelui este dăunătoare. Dacă câinele trage la curea, vă putem oferi sfaturi privind metodele de antrenament care evită daunele. Odată ce câinele s-a adaptat, puteți lua în considerare folosirea unui harns (împreună cu curea slip) dacă câinele este confortabil cu manipularea atunci când este așezat. Hilda is a large Romanian shepherd cross. Her passport says she was born Feb 2019 but she acts a bit older than six. We have been a part of Hilda’s life and her a part of ours for years. She was in the private shelter in Crivatu Romania the very first time we visited and stayed there until 2024. The story of how she came to be rescued, if indeed it’s true, is too horrible to put into print so I will just say that she has been through a lot and, although understandably scared of people, treats us with nothing but gentleness. Hilda is a large dog with a calm presence. She moves with grace and poise and is quite regal in her demeanour. She will avoid strangers if she can but once she is used to the people in the home she will choose to be close by and always looks like she wants to come for a fuss but she’s just not quite ready yet. When you go to her she is happy to be fussed and groomed and will fall asleep with her head on your lap. Hilda is not keen on her walks and really doesn’t want to go for more than fifteen minutes. We are not sure if this is a crisis of confidence or if it’s a mobility issue, she’s a difficult dog to read. She walks nicely on a lead but can panic when spooked so we are looking for a rural home for her as she will not cope with a lot of traffic or crowds. Despite her fears Hilda is such a gentle dog, she will need a calm and quiet environment with no children under twelve and with at least one other dog. Anyone considering adopting her must be calm and patient in gaining her trust and maybe she will never fully open up to humans due to the horrors of her past. Adoption Terms & Conditions When you adopt a Safe Rescue dog, you MUST use a slip lead. This will keep your dog safe: your new dog will be nervous and will not trust you, and you will not know which situations might upset your dog. If your dog panics, then a slip lead is the only way to prevent your dog from escaping (many dogs can escape from a collar and/or harness). It will take AT LEAST 3-6 months for your dog to settle-in and for you to know your dog fully (longer for nervous dogs). The slip lead must ALWAYS be used during this settling-in period. Even after your dog is settled, it is safest to use the slip lead in situations where your dog may become scared (e.g. visiting new places, around unfamiliar people, at the vet), and it situations where unexpected triggers might happen (e.g. around bonfire night). Nervous dogs may always need to wear a slip-lead as a back-up safety measure. The slip lead is a safety device and must NEVER be used as a training tool. Using the lead to apply pressure to the dog’s neck is damaging. If your dog pulls on the lead, then we can advise you on training methods that avoid harm. Once your dog is settled, you may want to consider using a harness (together with the slip lead) if your dog is comfortable with being handled when it is fitted. Most harnesses are not escape-proof, but harnesses with a strap behind the ribcage (e.g. Ruffwear Webmaster or Perfect Fit Harnesses) are safer. Retractable / extendable leads must never be used on our dogs. Adopted dogs must be collected from the rescue and transported straight home in a secure metal crate.
