Hilda je velká románsky ovcářský kříženec. Její průkaz cestující uvádí, že se narodila v únoru 2019, ale chová se trochu starší než šest. byli jsme součástí Hildinyho života a ona byla součástí našeho života po roky. Byla v soukromém útulku v Crivatu Rumunsku poprvé, když jsme tam navštívili a zůstala tam do roku 2024. Příběh toho, jak byla zachráněna, pokud je vůbec pravdivý, je příliš děsivý na tisk, takže jen řeknu, že prošla mnoha věcmi a i když je pochopitelně strach z lidí, vede se ke nám s výhradním laskavostí. Hilda je velký pes se klidným přítomností. Pohybuje se s grace a poctivostí a je docela královská ve svém chování. Bude vyhýbat se cizím lidem, pokud to bude možné, ale jednou, když se zvykne na lidi v domě, bude chtít být blízko a vždy vypadá, že chce dostat pochvalu, ale ještě není připravená. Když jde k ní, bude radostně hladit a upravovat ji a usnout s hlavou na vašem klíně. Hilda není zvlášť nadšená z procházek a opravdu nechce být venku déle než patnáct minut. Nejsme si jisti, zda to je krize důvěry nebo problém pohyblivosti, je obtížné číst její chování. Chodí hezky na řetězu, ale může se zmocnit paniky, když bude vyrušena, proto hledáme venkovské sídlo pro ni, protože nebude snášet mnoho provozu nebo davů. Přestože má strach, Hilda je velmi mírný pes, bude potřebovat klidné a tiché prostředí bez dětí pod dvanácti let a s alespoň jedním dalším psem. Každý, kdo uvažuje o adopci, musí být klidný a trpělivý při získávání její důvěry a možná nikdy plně otevře lidským lidem kvůli hrůzám její minulosti. Nesterilizované štěňata na smlouvě o sterilizaci: 530 GBP (dostanete 100 GBP vrácené, jakmile nám pošlete důkaz o sterilizaci). Starší psi (10+ let): 150–250 GBP (podle věku a individuálních potřeb). Podmínky adopce Když adopujete psa od Safe Rescue, musíte použít uzávoru. To vám udrží psa v bezpečí: váš nový pes bude nervózní a nebude vás důvěřovat a nebudete vědět, které situace mohou vašeho psa rozrušit. Pokud se pes bude bát, pak je uzávoru jediný způsob, jak zabránit tomu, aby unikl (mnoho psů může uniknout z kravice a/nebo sedačky). Bude trvat NEJMÉNĚ 3-6 měsíců, než se pes zvykne a vy plně poznáte svého psa (delší pro nervózní psy). Uzávoru musíte vždy použít během tohoto období zvykání. I poté, co se pes zvykne, je nejbezpečnější použít uzávoru v situacích, kde může pes být strach (např. návštěva nových míst, kolem neznámých lidí, u veterináře), a v situacích, kde se mohou objevit neočekávané triggerové faktory (např. kolem nocí ohňostrojů). Nervózní psi mohou vždy nosit uzávoru jako záložní bezpečnostní opatření. Uzávoru je bezpečnostní zařízení a nikdy nesmí být použita jako nástroj tréninku. Použití řetězu k aplikaci tlaku na krk psa je škodlivé. Pokud se pes táhne za řetězem, můžeme vám poradit s metodami tréninku, které zabraňují škodám. Jakmile se pes zvykne, můžete zvážit použití sedačky (spolu s uzávorou), pokud pes bude pohodlný s manipulací, když bude nasazen. Většina sedaček není odolná proti úniku, ale sedačky se šňůrou za řebry (např. Ruffwear Webmaster nebo Perfect Fit sedačky) jsou bezpečnější. Retrakční / prodlužovací řetězy nesmí být použity na naše psy. Adopce psy musí být vybrány z útulku a okamžitě převezeny domů v bezpečné ocelové krabici. Hilda is a large Romanian shepherd cross. Her passport says she was born Feb 2019 but she acts a bit older than six. We have been a part of Hilda’s life and her a part of ours for years. She was in the private shelter in Crivatu Romania the very first time we visited and stayed there until 2024. The story of how she came to be rescued, if indeed it’s true, is too horrible to put into print so I will just say that she has been through a lot and, although understandably scared of people, treats us with nothing but gentleness. Hilda is a large dog with a calm presence. She moves with grace and poise and is quite regal in her demeanour. She will avoid strangers if she can but once she is used to the people in the home she will choose to be close by and always looks like she wants to come for a fuss but she’s just not quite ready yet. When you go to her she is happy to be fussed and groomed and will fall asleep with her head on your lap. Hilda is not keen on her walks and really doesn’t want to go for more than fifteen minutes. We are not sure if this is a crisis of confidence or if it’s a mobility issue, she’s a difficult dog to read. She walks nicely on a lead but can panic when spooked so we are looking for a rural home for her as she will not cope with a lot of traffic or crowds. Despite her fears Hilda is such a gentle dog, she will need a calm and quiet environment with no children under twelve and with at least one other dog. Anyone considering adopting her must be calm and patient in gaining her trust and maybe she will never fully open up to humans due to the horrors of her past. This will keep your dog safe: your new dog will be nervous and will not trust you, and you will not know which situations might upset your dog. If your dog panics, then a slip lead is the only way to prevent your dog from escaping (many dogs can escape from a collar and/or harness). It will take AT LEAST 3-6 months for your dog to settle-in and for you to know your dog fully (longer for nervous dogs). The slip lead must ALWAYS be used during this settling-in period. Even after your dog is settled, it is safest to use the slip lead in situations where your dog may become scared (e.g. visiting new places, around unfamiliar people, at the vet), and it situations where unexpected triggers might happen (e.g. around bonfire night). Nervous dogs may always need to wear a slip-lead as a back-up safety measure. The slip lead is a safety device and must NEVER be used as a training tool. Using the lead to apply pressure to the dog’s neck is damaging. If your dog pulls on the lead, then we can advise you on training methods that avoid harm. Once your dog is settled, you may want to consider using a harness (together with the slip lead) if your dog is comfortable with being handled when it is fitted. Most harnesses are not escape-proof, but harnesses with a strap behind the ribcage (e.g. Ruffwear Webmaster or Perfect Fit Harnesses) are safer. Retractable / extendable leads must never be used on our dogs. Adopted dogs must be collected from the rescue and transported straight home in a secure metal crate.
