Stanley este un câine de mărime mică la medie, probabil are în jur de nouă ani. Stanley a intrat în îngrijirea noastră cu patru ani în urmă din shelterul public Botosani din România. A fost extrem de bătut în shelter și era foarte subnutrit din cauza altor câini care nu i-au permis să mănânce. În loc să fie recunoscător că am intervenit și l-am salvat de la moarte, se poate spune că Stanley n-a fost niciodată un "om" de încredere. După ani de suferință de la oameni, nu l-am acuzat niciodată. Deci am mers mai departe timp de patru ani, îl hrănim, colectam excrementele lui și primim doar priviri murdare fără niciun fel de recunoștință. Tot ce conta era că a ieșit din shelter și a fost fericit și în siguranță în casa de găzduire. În tot acest timp a fost destul de ușor. Se confundă în fundal în mare parte. Are voie să-mi spăl și să-l îngrijesc fără probleme când este nevoie. Nu a arătat niciodată vreun semn de a dori o interacțiune suplimentară. Recent am simțit o schimbare în el, chiar am spune că ieri s-a uitat aproape pe sine și s-a bucurat de o spălare și de atenție! Când și-a pus capul pe genunchiul meu și s-a adormit brusc am realizat că de fapt e un bătrân acum și merită un mediu mai liniștit și mai relaxat pentru retragere. Evident că are nevoie de o persoană foarte specială care să-i ofere un loc de trai. Este posibil ca lucrurile să fie mai mult ce poți face pentru el decât ceea ce dragostea va oferi înapoi. ... dar poate într-un mediu mai individual poate fi mai mult decât un câine care se confundă în fundal. Până atunci recompensele vor fi oferite confortului și liniștii unui bătrân stoic care doar vrea să te folosească pentru mâncare!! Stanley are nevoie de un alt câine în casă și poate fi jucăuș când crede că nimeni nu observă, nu are probleme cu pisicile. A fost într-o casă de găzduire cu copii de 8 ani și peste, le ignoră și ei îl ignoră pe el și această situație funcționează pentru toți implicați. Va merge la plimbare și își va plăcea inițial, dar devine agresiv după aproximativ douăzeci de minute, în special dacă alegi o direcție care îl supără. Cred că poți vedea în ochii acestui câine că a văzut și suportat mult mai mult decât orice câine ar trebui să facă și de aceea nu trebuie judecat pentru abordarea sa ostilă față de oameni. În timpul ședințelor de îngrijire am văzut cicatricile ascunse sub blana lui densă, și sunt numeroase. Stanley a fost găzduit de Royston Herts. Dacă sunteți interesat, trimiteți un mesaj sau sunați între orele 9:00-17:00 de Luni-Vineri sau 9:00-16:00 Sâmbătă. Tarife pentru donație pentru adoptare Din 1 decembrie 2025 sunt: Pui deja sterilizați și toți câinii adulți: £430. Pui neghețați pe contracte de sterilizare: £530 (veți primi un credit de £100 odată ce ne trimiteți dovada sterilizării). Câini bătrâni (peste 10 ani): £150–£250 (în funcție de vârstă și nevoi individuale). Politica de adoptare Când adoptați un câine de la Safe Rescue, trebuie să folosiți întotdeauna un lanț. Acest lucru va menține câinele în siguranță: noul tău câine va fi nervos și nu va avea încredere în tine, iar tu nu vei ști ce situații îl pot supăra. Dacă câinele se paniquează, atunci un lanț este singura modalitate de a preveni scaparea lui (multe câini pot scăpa dintr-un colier și/sau harnas). Va dura cel puțin 3-6 luni pentru ca câinele să se adapteze și să știi câinele complet (mai mult timp pentru câinii nervoși). Lanțul trebuie întotdeauna folosit în această perioadă de adaptare. Chiar și după ce câinele s-a adaptat, este mai sigur să folosești lanțul în situații în care câinele ar putea fi speriat (de exemplu, vizite la locuri noi, în prezența oamenilor necunoscuți, la medicul veterinar), precum și în situații în care ar putea apărea declanșatori neașteptați (de exemplu, în apropierea zilei de focuri de artificii). Câinii nervoși pot purta în permanență lanțul ca măsură de siguranță suplimentară. Lanțul este un dispozitiv de siguranță și nu trebuie niciodată folosit ca instrument de antrenament. Folosirea lanțului pentru a aplica presiune pe gâtul câinelui este dăunătoare. Dacă câinele trage de lanț, vom putea să-ți oferim metode de antrenament care evită răni. Odată ce câinele s-a adaptat, poți considera utilizarea unui harnas (împreună cu lanțul) dacă câinele este confortabil atunci când este montat. Multe harnase nu sunt rezistente la scăpări, dar harnase cu bandă în spatele coastelor (ex. Ruffwear Webmaster sau Perfect Fit Harnesses) sunt mai sigure. Lanțurile retractabile / extensibile nu trebuie niciodată folosite pentru câinii noștri. Câinii adoptați trebuie aduși din partea salvatorului și transportați direct acasă într-un coș. Gardurile și ușile trebuie să aibă minim 1,5 metri și să fie sigure. Toți câinii sunt vaccinați, microciptați și sterilizați (dacă câinele este prea tânăr pentru a fi sterilizat). Stanley is a small to medium sized crossbreed, he is probably around nine years old. Stanley came into our care four years ago from the Botosani public shelter in Romania. He had been extremely picked on in the shelter and was very underweight due to other dogs not allowing him to eat. Far from being grateful to us for stepping in and saving him from impending doom, it’s fair to say that Stanley has never really been a “people person”. After years of hardship at the hands of humans we never really blamed him. So we’ve been ticking along for four years feeding him, picking up his pooh and receiving nothing in gratitude but dirty looks. All that mattered was that he was out of the shelter and happy and safe in his foster home. For the duration of his stay with us he’s really not been any trouble at all. He blends into the background for the most part. Will tolerate me bathing and grooming him without a fuss when needed. He’s just never really shown any sign of wanting any further interaction. Recently I have felt a change in him, I would even go as far as to say that he almost forgot himself yesterday and enjoyed a groom and a fuss! When he rested his head on my knee and dozed off I suddenly realised that actually he’s really a senior now and he deserves a quieter and more relaxed environment for his retirement. Obviously he needs a very special kind of person to offer him a home. It is still potentially going to be a case of what you can do for him and not what love he’s going to give back to you.….. but just maybe in a more one to one environment he can be more than a “blend into the background” dog. In the meantime rewards will be from offering comfort and peace to a stoic old boy who just wants to use you for food!! Stanley needs another dog in residence and can be playful when he thinks nobody is looking, he has no issues with cats. He has been in a foster home with children of eight plus, he ignores them and they ignore him and that situation works for all involved. He will go for walks and enjoys them initially but gets belligerent after about twenty minutes, especially if you opt to go in a direction which displeases him. I just think that you can see in the eyes of this dog that he’s seen and endured way more than any dog should, and he should therefore not be judged for his standoffish approach to humans. During grooming sessions I’ve seen the scars hidden by his thick coat, and they are many. Stanley fostered Royston Herts. Un-neutered puppies on spay/neuter contracts: £530 (You will receive a £100 rebate once you send us proof of neutering). Senior dogs (10+ years): £150–£250 (depending on age and individual needs). Adoption Policy When you adopt a Safe Rescue dog, you MUST use a slip lead. This will keep your dog safe: your new dog will be nervous and will not trust you, and you will not know which situations might upset your dog. If your dog panics, then a slip lead is the only way to prevent your dog from escaping (many dogs can escape from a collar and/or harness). It will take AT LEAST 3-6 months for your dog to settle-in and for you to know your dog fully (longer for nervous dogs). The slip lead must ALWAYS be used during this settling-in period. Even after your dog is settled, it is safest to use the slip lead in situations where your dog may become scared (e.g. visiting new places, around unfamiliar people, at the vet), and it situations where unexpected triggers might happen (e.g. around bonfire night). Nervous dogs may always need to wear a slip-lead as a back-up safety measure. The slip lead is a safety device and must NEVER be used as a training tool. Using the lead to apply pressure to the dog’s neck is damaging. If your dog pulls on the lead, then we can advise you on training methods that avoid harm. Once your dog is settled, you may want to consider using a harness (together with the slip lead) if your dog is comfortable with being handled when it is fitted. Most harnesses are not escape-proof, but harnesses with a strap behind the ribcage (e.g. Ruffwear Webmaster or Perfect Fit Harnesses) are safer.
