Stanley är en liten till medelstor korsning, han är troligen runt nio år gammal. Stanley kom till vår vård för fyra år sedan från Botosani offentliga skyddshus i Rumänien. Han hade varit extremt utsatt i skyddshuset och var mycket underviktig på grund av andra hundar som inte lät honom äta. Istället för att vara tacksam mot oss för att vi gick in och räddade honom från olyckan har det varit rätt att säga att Stanley aldrig verkligen har varit en "mänsklig typ". Efter år av lidande av människor har vi aldrig riktigt anklagat honom. Så har vi gått vidare under fyra år genom att mata honom, plocka upp hans gök och få inget tack utom ilska. Det enda som gick upp var att han var borta från skyddshuset och glad och trygg i sitt fosterhem. Under hela hans tid hos oss har han verkligen inte varit något problem alls. Han smälter ofta in i bakgrunden. Accepterar att jag badar och frisörer honom utan bråk när det behövs. Han har bara aldrig verkligen visat något tecken på att vilja ha mer interaktion. Nyligen har jag känt en förändring i honom, jag skulle ens säga att han nästan glömde sig själv igår och njöt av en frisörsession och kärlek! När han lade huvudet på min knä och sov in insåg jag plötsligt att han verkligen är en senior nu och han förtjänar en lugnare och mer avslappnad miljö för sin pension. Uppehållsfrågan är uppenbarligen fortfarande en fråga om vad du kan göra för honom och inte vad kärlek han kommer ge dig tillbaka. ... men kanske kan han vara mer än en "smälter in i bakgrunden" hund i ett mer ett-till-ett-miljö. I mellemtiden kommer belöningen att vara att erbjuda bekvämlighet och fred till en stojkig gammal kill som bara vill använda dig för mat!! Stanley behöver en annan hund i hemmet och kan vara lekfull när han tror att ingen ser, han har inga problem med katter. Han har varit i ett fosterhem med barn över åtta år, han ignorerar dem och de ignorerar honom och den situationen fungerar för alla inblandade. Han går promenader och tycker om dem i början men blir belligerant efter cirka tjugofem minuter, särskilt om ni väljer en riktning som inte gillar. Jag tror bara att du ser i ögonen på denna hunden att han sett och tålde mer än vad en hund borde, och han bör därför inte dömas för sitt avståndstagande till människor. Under frisörsessioner har jag sett skavanker dolda under hans tjocka päls, och de är många. Stanley fosterades av Royston Herts. Om du är intresserad, mejla eller ring mellan 9-17 mån-fre eller 9-16 lör. Uppgiftsavgifter från 1 december 2025 är valda ungar och alla vuxna hundar: £430. Ovaxade ungar med spay/neuter-avtal: £530 (Du får en rabatt på £100 när du skickar oss bevis på kastrering). Äldre hundar (10+ år): £150–£250 (beroende på ålder och individuella behov). Adoption Policy När du adopterar en Safe Rescue-hund MÅSTE du använda en slip-led. Detta håller din hund säker: din nya hund är nervös och inte tillitfull, och du vet inte vilka situationer som kan orsaka stress hos din hund. Om din hund panikar så är en slip-led det enda sättet att hindra din hund från att fly (många hundar kan fly från halsband och/eller sadel). Det tar MINST 3-6 månader för din hund att ta sig an och för dig att helt förstå din hund (längre för nervösa hundar). Slip-leden MÅSTE alltid användas under denna anpassningsperiod. Även efter att din hund är anpassad är det säkrast att använda slip-leden i situationer där din hund kan bli rädd (t.ex. besök av nya platser, runt okända människor, hos djurmedicinen), samt i situationer där oventygliga triggar kan ske (t.ex. runt bränslefest). Nervösa hundar kan alltid behöva bära en slip-led som en säkerhetsförsikt. Slip-leden är en säkerhetsutrustning och MÅSTE aldrig användas som träningsinstrument. Att använda ledet för att trycka mot hundens hals är skadligt. Om din hund drar i ledet kan vi rekommendera träningsmetoder som undviker skada. När din hund är anpassad kan du överväga att använda en sadel (tillsammans med slip-leden) om din hund är bekväm med att hanteras när den är påplaceras. De flesta sadlar är inte flyktfria, men sadlar med en band bakom ribbkanten (t.ex. Ruffwear Webmaster eller Perfect Fit Harnesses) är säkrare. Retraktabla / utsträckbara led måste aldrig användas på våra hundar. Adopterade hundar måste hämtas från skyddsstationen och transporteras direkt hem i en kasse. Grindar och portar måste vara minst 5 fot höga och säkra. Alla hundar är vaccinerade, mikrochippade och kastrerade (om hunden är för ung för att kastreras). Stanley is a small to medium sized crossbreed, he is probably around nine years old. Stanley came into our care four years ago from the Botosani public shelter in Romania. He had been extremely picked on in the shelter and was very underweight due to other dogs not allowing him to eat. Far from being grateful to us for stepping in and saving him from impending doom, it’s fair to say that Stanley has never really been a “people person”. After years of hardship at the hands of humans we never really blamed him. So we’ve been ticking along for four years feeding him, picking up his pooh and receiving nothing in gratitude but dirty looks. All that mattered was that he was out of the shelter and happy and safe in his foster home. For the duration of his stay with us he’s really not been any trouble at all. He blends into the background for the most part. Will tolerate me bathing and grooming him without a fuss when needed. He’s just never really shown any sign of wanting any further interaction. Recently I have felt a change in him, I would even go as far as to say that he almost forgot himself yesterday and enjoyed a groom and a fuss! When he rested his head on my knee and dozed off I suddenly realised that actually he’s really a senior now and he deserves a quieter and more relaxed environment for his retirement. Obviously he needs a very special kind of person to offer him a home. It is still potentially going to be a case of what you can do for him and not what love he’s going to give back to you.….. but just maybe in a more one to one environment he can be more than a “blend into the background” dog. In the meantime rewards will be from offering comfort and peace to a stoic old boy who just wants to use you for food!! Stanley needs another dog in residence and can be playful when he thinks nobody is looking, he has no issues with cats. He has been in a foster home with children of eight plus, he ignores them and they ignore him and that situation works for all involved. He will go for walks and enjoys them initially but gets belligerent after about twenty minutes, especially if you opt to go in a direction which displeases him. I just think that you can see in the eyes of this dog that he’s seen and endured way more than any dog should, and he should therefore not be judged for his standoffish approach to humans. During grooming sessions I’ve seen the scars hidden by his thick coat, and they are many. Stanley fostered Royston Herts. Un-neutered puppies on spay/neuter contracts: £530 (You will receive a £100 rebate once you send us proof of neutering). Senior dogs (10+ years): £150–£250 (depending on age and individual needs). This will keep your dog safe: your new dog will be nervous and will not trust you, and you will not know which situations might upset your dog. If your dog panics, then a slip lead is the only way to prevent your dog from escaping (many dogs can escape from a collar and/or harness). It will take AT LEAST 3-6 months for your dog to settle-in and for you to know your dog fully (longer for nervous dogs). The slip lead must ALWAYS be used during this settling-in period. Even after your dog is settled, it is safest to use the slip lead in situations where your dog may become scared (e.g. visiting new places, around unfamiliar people, at the vet), and it situations where unexpected triggers might happen (e.g. around bonfire night). Nervous dogs may always need to wear a slip-lead as a back-up safety measure. The slip lead is a safety device and must NEVER be used as a training tool. Using the lead to apply pressure to the dog’s neck is damaging. If your dog pulls on the lead, then we can advise you on training methods that avoid harm. Once your dog is settled, you may want to consider using a harness (together with the slip lead) if your dog is comfortable with being handled when it is fitted. Most harnesses are not escape-proof, but harnesses with a strap behind the ribcage (e.g. Ruffwear Webmaster or Perfect Fit Harnesses) are safer.
