Xando a fost găsit de poliție plimbându-se, cu un microcip, slăbuț și cu pielea de pe față într-o stare proastă. Am reușit să contactăm proprietarul înregistrat, care locuiește într-un caravanserai și a spus că nu vrea să-și ia înapoi câinele, așa că a abandonat câinele bătrân. Xando este un frumos câine german shepherd clasic, cu o spate relativ drept, fără șolduri căzute și cu un blană lungă neagră și maro. Pielea din jurul ochilor a fost deteriorată din cauza inflamației prelungite, însă aceasta s-a vindecat bine – doar blana nu se va mai încuraja în jurul ochilor mai mult – poate într-o casă... Xando ar putea fi deja bătrân, dar este încă activ și iubește să facă aventuri cu voluntarii noștri. Xando merge foarte bine la cătușă, iar în adăpost merge frecvent cu voluntarii începători și familii. A jucat probabil foarte mult la mingea în viața lui și îl iubește, totuși îl recomandăm să schimbăm jocurile de pescuit cu ceva mai blând pentru oasele sale în vârstă, puțină muncă în sol moale, jocuri de căutare, mers în nisip, înot – aceste activități vor fi mult mai sănătoase pentru Xando. Este prietenos cu oamenii, îi place să fie atins și vine când îl cheamă. De asemenea, este motivat pentru mâncare, ceea ce este foarte bine pentru antrenarea lui pentru o viață împreună! Este un băiat foarte, foarte inteligent, învață foarte rapid, așa că se va adapta cu siguranță rapid la un nou mediu! Mai conduce foarte bine în mașină, ceea ce are sens, deoarece „omul” său anterior locuia într-un caravanserai. Xando ia gustările cam entuziast și are o energie destul de mare pentru vârsta lui, așa că îl recomandăm Xando caselor fără copii mici, iar preferabil fără alte câini în momentul de față, deoarece nu l-am testat încă pentru conviețuire cu alți câini, totuși o femeie calmă și socială ar putea fi considerată și echipa adăpostului va efectua testele. Pe mersul cu cățelușii, el trecerea altor câini calm, este mai interesat de unii decât de alții, dar nu face scenă, în special când este departe de adăpost. Îl iubește să meargă în excursii și este un excelent companion pentru viața de zi cu zi. Xando este în foarte bună sănătate după cum știm, și a fost testat negativ pentru boli mediteraneene, inclusiv Leishmania. Înălțimea umărului lui Xando este de aproximativ 65 cm.

Xando was found by the police wandering around, with a microchip, skinny and with the skin on his face in bad condition. We were able to get in touch with the registered owner, who apparently lives in a caravan and said he doesn't want the dog back anymore, so he just abandoned his old dog. Xando is a beautiful old-school German Shephard, with a relatively straight back, no hanging hips, and a black-brown long fur. The skin around his eyes was damaged from being left with inflammation over a long period of time, however that has healed well - just the fur won't really grow back around his eyes anymore.... maybe in a home.... Xando might be already older, but he is still active and loves to go for adventures with our volunteers. Xando walks very well on the leash, and in the shelter he often walks with beginner volunteers and families. He has clearly been playing a lot of fetch in his life and he definitely loves it, however we would recommend switching the fetching games for something more smooth for his aging bones, a bit of soft soil digging, searching games, walking in the sand, swimming - these activities will be much healthier for Xando. He is lovely with humans, likes to be touched, and comes when you call him. He is also food-motivated so that's great for training him for a life together! He is a very very clever boy, and learns really quickly, so he will surely get used to a new environment quickly! He also drives very well in the car, which makes sense, since his previous "human" was living in a caravan. Xando takes snacks a bit enthusiastically and his is quite high energy for his age, so we would recommend Xando to homes without small children, and preferably without other dogs at the moment as we have not tested him for co-living with other dogs, however a calm, social female could be considered and the shelter team would carry out the tests. On the walks he passes other dogs calmly, is more interested in some than others, but makes no drama, especially when he is away from the shelter. He loves to go on hikes, and is an excellent companion for everyday life. Xando is in very good health as far as we can tell, and he is tested negative on Mediterranean diseases, including Leishmania. Xando's shoulder height is about 65cm.
