Xando foi encontrado pela polícia andando em volta, com microchip, magro e com a pele do rosto em má condição. Conseguimos entrar em contato com o proprietário registrado, que aparentemente mora em uma caravana e disse que não quer mais o cão, então simplesmente abandonou seu velho cachorro. Xando é um belo pastor alemão clássico, com uma coluna relativamente reta, quadris não caídos e pelo longo preto-marrom. A pele ao redor dos olhos estava danificada devido à inflamação prolongada, no entanto, isso se curou bem - apenas o pelo não crescerá mais ao redor dos olhos... talvez em uma casa.... Xando pode já ser mais velho, mas ainda é ativo e adora ir em aventuras com nossos voluntários. Xando anda muito bem na coleira, e no abrigo ele costuma andar com voluntários iniciantes e famílias. Ele brincou muito de pegar em sua vida e certamente ama isso, no entanto recomendamos trocar os jogos de pegar por algo mais suave para seus ossos idosos, um pouco de escavação em solo mole, jogos de busca, caminhadas na areia, natação - essas atividades serão muito mais saudáveis para Xando. Ele é muito bom com humanos, gosta de ser acariciado e vem quando você chama. Ele também é motivado por comida, o que é ótimo para treiná-lo para uma vida juntos! Ele é um menino muito muito inteligente e aprende muito rapidamente, então certamente se adaptará rápido a um novo ambiente! Ele também dirige muito bem no carro, o que faz sentido, já que seu anterior "humano" morava em uma caravana. Xando pega snacks com bastante entusiasmo e tem bastante energia para sua idade, então recomendamos Xando para casas sem crianças pequenas, e preferencialmente sem outros cães no momento, já que não testamos o convívio com outros cães, no entanto uma fêmea calma e social poderia ser considerada e a equipe do abrigo realizaria os testes. Nas caminhadas ele passa por outros cães calmamente, está mais interessado em alguns do que em outros, mas não faz drama, especialmente quando está longe do abrigo. Ele adora fazer trilhas e é um ótimo companheiro para a vida cotidiana. Xando está em excelente saúde, conforme podemos ver, e testou negativo para doenças mediterrâneas, incluindo Leishmania. A altura dos ombros de Xando é cerca de 65 cm.

Xando was found by the police wandering around, with a microchip, skinny and with the skin on his face in bad condition. We were able to get in touch with the registered owner, who apparently lives in a caravan and said he doesn't want the dog back anymore, so he just abandoned his old dog. Xando is a beautiful old-school German Shephard, with a relatively straight back, no hanging hips, and a black-brown long fur. The skin around his eyes was damaged from being left with inflammation over a long period of time, however that has healed well - just the fur won't really grow back around his eyes anymore.... maybe in a home.... Xando might be already older, but he is still active and loves to go for adventures with our volunteers. Xando walks very well on the leash, and in the shelter he often walks with beginner volunteers and families. He has clearly been playing a lot of fetch in his life and he definitely loves it, however we would recommend switching the fetching games for something more smooth for his aging bones, a bit of soft soil digging, searching games, walking in the sand, swimming - these activities will be much healthier for Xando. He is lovely with humans, likes to be touched, and comes when you call him. He is also food-motivated so that's great for training him for a life together! He is a very very clever boy, and learns really quickly, so he will surely get used to a new environment quickly! He also drives very well in the car, which makes sense, since his previous "human" was living in a caravan. Xando takes snacks a bit enthusiastically and his is quite high energy for his age, so we would recommend Xando to homes without small children, and preferably without other dogs at the moment as we have not tested him for co-living with other dogs, however a calm, social female could be considered and the shelter team would carry out the tests. On the walks he passes other dogs calmly, is more interested in some than others, but makes no drama, especially when he is away from the shelter. He loves to go on hikes, and is an excellent companion for everyday life. Xando is in very good health as far as we can tell, and he is tested negative on Mediterranean diseases, including Leishmania. Xando's shoulder height is about 65cm.
