Xando è stato trovato dalla polizia che girovagava, con un microchip, magro e con la pelle del viso in cattive condizioni. Siamo riusciti a contattare il proprietario registrato, che apparentemente vive in un caravan e ha detto di non volere più il cane, quindi ha abbandonato il suo vecchio cane. Xando è un bell'antico pastore tedesco, con una schiena relativamente dritta, nessuna coscia pendente e un pelo lungo nero-brown. La pelle intorno agli occhi era danneggiata a causa di un'infiammazione prolungata, tuttavia si è ripresa bene - semplicemente il pelo non crescerà veramente intorno agli occhi più... forse in una casa... Xando potrebbe essere già anziano, ma è ancora attivo e ama andare per avventure con i nostri volontari. Xando cammina molto bene al guinzaglio, e nel rifugio spesso cammina con volontari principianti e famiglie. Ha chiaramente giocato molto a rimbalzo nella sua vita e lo ama davvero, tuttavia consigliamo di cambiare i giochi di rimbalzo con qualcosa di più morbido per le sue ossa invecchiate, un po' di scavare in terra morbida, giochi di ricerca, camminare sulla sabbia, nuotare - queste attività saranno molto più salutari per Xando. È dolce con gli umani, gli piace essere toccato e viene quando lo chiami. È anche motivato dal cibo, quindi è ottimo per addestrarlo per una vita insieme! È un ragazzo molto molto intelligente e impara davvero velocemente, quindi si abituerà sicuramente velocemente a un nuovo ambiente! Inoltre, Xando guida molto bene in auto, il che ha senso, visto che il precedente "umano" viveva in un caravan. Xando prende le leccornie un po' con entusiasmo e ha un'energia abbastanza alta per la sua età, quindi consigliamo Xando a case senza bambini piccoli, e preferibilmente senza altri cani al momento, poiché non lo abbiamo testato per la convivenza con altri cani, tuttavia una femmina calma e sociale potrebbe essere considerata e il team del rifugio effettuerà i test. Durante le passeggiate passa altri cani con calma, è più interessato ad alcuni che ad altri, ma non fa drammi, soprattutto quando è lontano dal rifugio. Ama fare escursioni ed è un ottimo compagno per la vita quotidiana. Xando è in buona salute come possiamo vedere, e ha dato negativo sui malanni mediterranei, inclusa la Leishmania. L'altezza delle spalle di Xando è circa 65 cm.

Xando was found by the police wandering around, with a microchip, skinny and with the skin on his face in bad condition. We were able to get in touch with the registered owner, who apparently lives in a caravan and said he doesn't want the dog back anymore, so he just abandoned his old dog. Xando is a beautiful old-school German Shephard, with a relatively straight back, no hanging hips, and a black-brown long fur. The skin around his eyes was damaged from being left with inflammation over a long period of time, however that has healed well - just the fur won't really grow back around his eyes anymore.... maybe in a home.... Xando might be already older, but he is still active and loves to go for adventures with our volunteers. Xando walks very well on the leash, and in the shelter he often walks with beginner volunteers and families. He has clearly been playing a lot of fetch in his life and he definitely loves it, however we would recommend switching the fetching games for something more smooth for his aging bones, a bit of soft soil digging, searching games, walking in the sand, swimming - these activities will be much healthier for Xando. He is lovely with humans, likes to be touched, and comes when you call him. He is also food-motivated so that's great for training him for a life together! He is a very very clever boy, and learns really quickly, so he will surely get used to a new environment quickly! He also drives very well in the car, which makes sense, since his previous "human" was living in a caravan. Xando takes snacks a bit enthusiastically and his is quite high energy for his age, so we would recommend Xando to homes without small children, and preferably without other dogs at the moment as we have not tested him for co-living with other dogs, however a calm, social female could be considered and the shelter team would carry out the tests. On the walks he passes other dogs calmly, is more interested in some than others, but makes no drama, especially when he is away from the shelter. He loves to go on hikes, and is an excellent companion for everyday life. Xando is in very good health as far as we can tell, and he is tested negative on Mediterranean diseases, including Leishmania. Xando's shoulder height is about 65cm.
