Eddie kom ursprungligen till oss från en avlare och hade tur att bli adopterad, men det är tyvärr så att han har blivit tillbaka hos oss. Eddie gick inte ihop med de boende katterna och började också visa tecken på resursvård, särskilt kring mat, vilket kommer att behöva kontinuerlig hantering och förståelse i hans nya hem. Eddie är en smart, kärleksfull ung kill som trivs med att lära sig och njuter av en kram på sin egen tid. Han vet redan "sitt", "ligger", "på" och "tjuta", och svarar mycket bra på träning. Han är kasseträdd, sover hela natten i kassen och är väldigt matmotiverad, vilket gör honom till en snabb lärare. Han har till och med lärt sig "ge" för att hjälpa honom att byta föremål som sockor mot ett högre värde. Dock har Eddie vissa beteenden som måste hanteras noggrant. Han resursvårderar kring mat och därför får han inte godis som tar lång tid att äta om han inte är utanför och ingen stör honom när han äter. Han resursvårderar också när människor kockar (särskilt kött) eller äter. Han blir väldigt fokuserad och kan inte distraheras förrän maten är borta så han måste antingen vara i kassen eller i ett separat rum under alla former av mattid annars kommer han att gnälla, skälla och kan välja att springa fram och göra fel beslut i sin fokus. Eddie kan också bli lite tuggande när han är överstimulerad, så hans adoptanter måste vara lugna, konsekvent och självförtroende i att sätta tydliga gränser. På grund av detta söker Eddie ett lugnt och tyst vuxet hem utan besökande barn, och helst med adoptanter med erfarenhet av liknande beteenden. Eddie kan inte bo med katter eller små pälsdjur och ska hållas på lejon i alla områden där de kan finnas samt där några får eller husdjur kan finnas. Han är självsäker nog att kunna bo som enda hund men kan också bo med en annan slags lugn hund som är avslappnad. När mat inte finns runt omkring är Eddie en trevlig pojke som är kärleksfull, lysande och vill gärna visa sig. Han hade börjat anpassa sig bra till hemlivet, gjorde det fint med leddgång och hushållsträning och vi tror att han verkligen kommer att blomstra i rätt miljö. Eddie har så mycket potential och behöver bara någon som kan erbjuda honom struktur, förståelse och stabilitet för att lyfta sig. Eddie originally came to us from a breeder and was lucky enough to be adopted, but sadly he has been returned to our care. Eddie was not getting along with the resident cats and also began to show signs of resource guarding, particularly around food, which will need ongoing management and understanding in his new home. Eddie is a clever, affectionate young lad who thrives on learning and enjoys a cuddle on his own terms. He already knows sit, down, paw, and touch, and responds beautifully to training. He’s crate trained, sleeps through the night in his crate, and is very food motivated, which makes him a fast learner. He has even been taught “give” to help him swap items like socks for a higher-value reward. However, Eddie has some behaviours that need to be carefully managed. He does resource guard around food and for this reason he cannot have treats that take a long time to eat unless he is outside and nobody disturbs him while he's eating. He does also resource guard when humans are cooking (especially meat) or eating. He will become very focused and cannot be distracted until the food has gone so must either be crated or closed in a separate room during any kind of food time or he will growl, bark and can choose to lunge and make the wrong decision in his fixation. Eddie can also become nippy when overstimulated, so his adopters must be calm, consistent and confident in setting clear boundaries. Due to this, he is looking for a calm and quiet adult-only home with no visiting children, and ideally with adopters experienced in similar behaviours. Eddie cannot live with cats or small furries and should be kept on a lead in any areas where they might be present as well as where any sheep or livestock may be present. He is confident enough to be homed as an only dog but could also live with another kind, calm dog who is laid back. When food isn’t around, Eddie is a lovely boy who is affectionate, bright, and eager to please. Eddie has so much potential and just needs someone who can offer him the structure, understanding, and stability he needs to shine. He is so popular here at the rescue and his kennel mum especially adores him. He is so much fun to spend time with and so loving and affectionate. He absolutely adores having cuddles and equally adores running and zooming around our big play yard, which is so funny to watch! He is currently resting for a limp, and will be re-examined by the vets in a weeks time. Eddie will need more than one meet and greet with his prospective adopters to allow him time to build a bond and feel comfortable with them before being adopted. "I absolutely adore this boy! He always puts a smile on my face when I see him and he always greets me by putting his front paws up on me for a cuddle. One of my favourite things is when I’m sitting in the back of the kennel and he comes over for fusses and cuddles, giving me kisses in return. He is full of energy and is super playful and loves to run around the big play yard. He has such a fun, goofy personality that is impossible not to love. He’s also a very clever boy who listens incredibly well. If I call him in the yard, he comes to me, and he will automatically sit politely for treats and meals. Eddie is happy to share toys both in the kennel and the yard - although squishy balls are definitely his exception! On walks, he has always been good saying hello to other dogs, though he does prefer females. Since his kennel buddy Topanga was adopted, he has been introduced to Maggie and has been doing brilliantly with her, respecting her space while also playing chase together in the yard. Eddie’s a ladies man what can I say. He really is just the softest baby. Once you’ve built that bond with him, it’s a bond for life. Like any other dog he just wants to feel safe and loved. To me he truly is a perfect angel that unfortunately keeps getting overlooked." This dog can be homed with a resident dog.
