Eddie est venu initialement de l'éleveur et a eu la chance d'être adopté, mais malheureusement il a été renvoyé à notre charge. Eddie ne s'entendait pas avec les chats résidents et a commencé à montrer des signes de gardiennage des ressources, particulièrement autour de la nourriture, ce qui nécessitera une gestion continue et une compréhension dans sa nouvelle maison. Eddie est un jeune homme intelligent et affectueux qui prospère en apprenant et qui apprécie un câlin à son propre rythme. Il connaît déjà "assis", "allongé", "paume" et "contact" et répond magnifiquement à l'entraînement. Il est dressé en cage, dort toute la nuit dans sa cage et est très motivé par la nourriture, ce qui le rend rapide à apprendre. Il a même appris « donne » pour l'aider à échanger des objets comme des chaussettes contre une récompense plus précieuse. Cependant, Eddie présente certains comportements qui doivent être soigneusement gérés. Il garde les ressources autour de la nourriture et, pour cette raison, ne peut pas avoir des friandises qui prennent longtemps à manger, à moins qu'il ne soit à l'extérieur et que personne ne le dérange pendant qu'il mange. Il garde également les ressources lorsqu'une personne cuisine (surtout de la viande) ou mange. Il devient très concentré et ne peut pas être distraire jusqu'à ce que la nourriture disparaisse, il doit donc être soit dans sa cage, soit enfermé dans une pièce séparée pendant tout type de moment de repas, sinon il grognera, aboiera et pourra choisir de bondir et prendre une mauvaise décision dans sa fixation. Eddie peut aussi devenir mordant lorsqu'il est surexcité, donc ses adoptants doivent rester calmes, cohérents et confiants lorsqu'ils fixent des limites claires. En raison de cela, il cherche une maison calme et tranquille exclusivement pour adultes, sans enfants visitant, et idéalement avec des adoptants expérimentés dans des comportements similaires. Eddie ne peut pas vivre avec des chats ou des petits rongeurs et doit être tenu en laisse dans toutes les zones où ils pourraient être présents ainsi que dans les zones où des moutons ou du bétail pourraient être présents. Il est suffisamment confiant pour être placé seul, mais pourrait également vivre avec un autre chien, calme et détendu. Lorsque la nourriture n'est pas présente, Eddie est un gentil garçon affectueux, brillant et désireux de plaire. Il avait commencé à s'adapter bien à la vie à la maison, se comportait bien en promenade au collier et en entraînement à la maison et nous croyons qu'il prospérera véritablement dans l'environnement approprié. Eddie a beaucoup de potentiel et n'a besoin que de quelqu'un qui puisse lui offrir la structure, la compréhension et la stabilité dont il a besoin pour briller. Eddie originally came to us from a breeder and was lucky enough to be adopted, but sadly he has been returned to our care. Eddie was not getting along with the resident cats and also began to show signs of resource guarding, particularly around food, which will need ongoing management and understanding in his new home. Eddie is a clever, affectionate young lad who thrives on learning and enjoys a cuddle on his own terms. He already knows sit, down, paw, and touch, and responds beautifully to training. He’s crate trained, sleeps through the night in his crate, and is very food motivated, which makes him a fast learner. He has even been taught “give” to help him swap items like socks for a higher-value reward. However, Eddie has some behaviours that need to be carefully managed. He does resource guard around food and for this reason he cannot have treats that take a long time to eat unless he is outside and nobody disturbs him while he's eating. He does also resource guard when humans are cooking (especially meat) or eating. He will become very focused and cannot be distracted until the food has gone so must either be crated or closed in a separate room during any kind of food time or he will growl, bark and can choose to lunge and make the wrong decision in his fixation. Eddie can also become nippy when overstimulated, so his adopters must be calm, consistent and confident in setting clear boundaries. Due to this, he is looking for a calm and quiet adult-only home with no visiting children, and ideally with adopters experienced in similar behaviours. Eddie cannot live with cats or small furries and should be kept on a lead in any areas where they might be present as well as where any sheep or livestock may be present. He is confident enough to be homed as an only dog but could also live with another kind, calm dog who is laid back. When food isn’t around, Eddie is a lovely boy who is affectionate, bright, and eager to please. Eddie has so much potential and just needs someone who can offer him the structure, understanding, and stability he needs to shine. He is so popular here at the rescue and his kennel mum especially adores him. He is so much fun to spend time with and so loving and affectionate. He absolutely adores having cuddles and equally adores running and zooming around our big play yard, which is so funny to watch! If you think you could be the right match for Eddie, please do put in an application - he’s waiting patiently for the right person to come along. He is currently resting for a limp, and will be re-examined by the vets in a weeks time. Eddie will need more than one meet and greet with his prospective adopters to allow him time to build a bond and feel comfortable with them before being adopted. "I absolutely adore this boy! He always puts a smile on my face when I see him and he always greets me by putting his front paws up on me for a cuddle. One of my favourite things is when I’m sitting in the back of the kennel and he comes over for fusses and cuddles, giving me kisses in return. He is full of energy and is super playful and loves to run around the big play yard. He has such a fun, goofy personality that is impossible not to love. He’s also a very clever boy who listens incredibly well. If I call him in the yard, he comes to me, and he will automatically sit politely for treats and meals. Eddie is happy to share toys both in the kennel and the yard - although squishy balls are definitely his exception! On walks, he has always been good saying hello to other dogs, though he does prefer females. Since his kennel buddy Topanga was adopted, he has been introduced to Maggie and has been doing brilliantly with her, respecting her space while also playing chase together in the yard. Eddie’s a ladies man what can I say. He really is just the softest baby. Once you’ve built that bond with him, it’s a bond for life. Like any other dog he just wants to feel safe and loved. To me he truly is a perfect angel that unfortunately keeps getting overlooked." This dog can be homed with a resident dog.
