The intervention in the Lodz center was emotionally difficult for everyone involved. The woman lived in a small room with two female dogs, one of which dragged her hind legs. It is said that the female dog had not left this small room for over a year and a half, spending all that time locked inside with the mentally ill woman. Dirt stuck to every possible surface. Dog excrement that the woman collected with her bare hands. The smell of excrement clinging to the nostrils. And that fear—panicky fear of a person hanging in the air... On site with us were the police, MOPS, Sanepid, psychiatric emergency services, and the building administration. Everyone wanted to help both the woman and the dogs. Everyone except herself. There were screams and our requests and assurances that nothing would happen to the dogs. There was struggling, great nerves, and in the midst of it all, those frightened dogs we tried to help. After three hours, with the help of Animal Patrol, we managed to catch both female dogs together. The woman was taken to a psychiatric hospital, and the dogs were taken to a clinic. One of the dogs, Layla, has a broken spine, does not control urination or defecation. She lived in her own excrement for so long that she will have problems with her bladder and urinary tract for the rest of her life. The other female dog, Oliwka, is in much worse psychological condition. She must have been beaten, kicked, chased, despite the caretaker's assurances that she loved both dogs. She is afraid of every movement and glance. These dogs do not know humans from a good side. They do not know the outside world, smells, or fresh air. They had nothing except that horribly neglected room, which had no conditions for living for any living being. Will we be able to help them? We don't know... But we will try. We will try to show them normality and life beyond four walls.

Interwencja w centrum Łodzi była trudna emocjonalnie dla wszystkich w niej uczestniczących. Kobieta mieszka w małej izbie z dwiema suczkami, z których jedna ciągnie za sobą tylne łapy. Podobno od półtora roku suczki nie wyszły z tej małej izby, a cały ten czas spędziły zamknięte z chorą psychicznie kobietą. Brud przyklejony do każdej możliwej powierzchni. Odchody psów, które kobieta zbierała przy nas gołą ręką. Smród wydalin przyklejający się do nozdrzy. I ten strach - paniczny strach przed człowiekiem, który wisiał w powietrzu… Na miejscu z nami była policja, MOPS, Sanepid, pogotowie psychiatryczne i administracja budynku. Wszyscy chcieli pomóc i tej kobiecie, i psom. Wszyscy oprócz niej samej. Były krzyki i nasze prośby oraz zapewnienia, że psom nie stanie się krzywda. Była szarpanina, ogromne nerwy, a w tym wszystkim te przerażone psy, którym próbowaliśmy pomóc. Po trzech godzinach, przy pomocy Animal Patrolu, udało nam się wspólnie złapać obie suczki. Kobietę zawieziono do szpitala psychiatrycznego, a psy trafiły do kliniki. Jedna z suczek - Layla ma złamany kręgosłup, nie kontroluje oddawania moczu i kału. Żyła w swoich odchodach od tak dawna, że do końca życia będzie miała problemy z pęcherzem i drogami moczowymi. Druga suczka - Oliwka jest w dużo gorszym stanie psychicznym. Musiała być bita, kopana, przeganiana, mimo że opiekunka zapewniała nas o swojej miłości do obu suczek. Boi się każdego ruchu i spojrzenia. Te psy nie znają człowieka od dobrej strony. Nie znają świata zewnętrznego, zapachów, świeżego powietrza. Nie miały nic, oprócz tej potwornie zapuszczonej izby, w której nie było warunków do życia dla żadnej żywej istoty. Czy uda nam się im pomóc? Nie wiemy… Ale będziemy próbować. Spróbujemy pokazać im normalność i życie poza czterema ścianami.
