Pet adoption in Gex

Adopting a pet in Gex

Gex has a network of animal shelters and rescue organisations working to find loving homes for dogs, cats, and other animals. When you adopt from a shelter in Gex, you give a rescued animal a second chance while supporting local animal welfare efforts in France.

What to expect when adopting

• Fill out an adoption application — shelters want to ensure a good match for both you and the animal
• Meet the animal in person or arrange a virtual visit with the shelter
• Most shelter animals come vaccinated, microchipped, and neutered or spayed
• Adoption fees vary by shelter and typically cover veterinary care costs
• Some shelters conduct home checks before finalising the adoption

Adopting from Gex to another country

Cross-border pet adoption within Europe requires an EU pet passport, a valid rabies vaccination (administered at least 21 days before travel), a microchip, and in some cases tapeworm treatment. Check our country-specific import guides for detailed requirements.
