Abby (w)

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 3 years

Abby - small, cheerful and full of hope for her second chance Abby is approximately 2-3 years old, about 38 cm tall, and lives in the municipal animal shelter in Botoșani, in the eastern part of Romania. There are over 800 dogs housed there - a place full of noise, stress, food envy and daily fights. Only a few volunteers try to somehow care for all these dogs. Abby was brought to the shelter by the dog catchers together with her puppies. There she had to raise her babies - in the midst of incessant barking of hundreds of dogs, in an environment full of hustle and uncertainty. Anyone who has been there knows how deafening this noise is. In the meantime, her puppies are old enough and have been moved to the puppy area. Abby had to move to the adult dogs area. There the dogs are inevitably mixed together. The helpers try to sort them by size, but with so many dogs, this is not always possible. Especially the smaller dogs like Abby are particularly endangered - food fights and squabbles are unfortunately part of the sad everyday life. All the more we care about Abby. She is an incredibly friendly and people-oriented female dog. One could almost think that she once had a home with people who were good to her. Abby loves human contact and is thrilled about anyone who gives her even a few minutes of attention. Despite everything, she has so far preserved her joie de vivre and her loving nature. But we know from experience that this can change quickly. Many dogs break down mentally under the conditions in the shelter or are injured in fights. This is not an exaggeration, but unfortunately the harsh reality of this place. That's why we wish for Abby nothing more than that she leaves this place soon. She has so much love to give and finally deserves a home where she is safe, loved and never again has to fight for food or her place. Abby is spayed, multiple vaccinated, dewormed, chipped and of course has an EU passport. Before departure, we still carry out a Snap-4D test. Contact: Abby is mediated by the animal rescue organization Casa Katharina e.V. - with pre-control and protection contract. The association naturally has the permission according to §11 Animal Welfare Act. Even after the adoption, we will continue to support you - for humans and animals. Abby will travel to Germany as soon as she is adopted and will arrive in 91278 Pottenstein, where she must be picked up by her family. There is a secure area available. Before you contact us. Is the whole family informed and agreed to your inquiry? Do you have the consent of your landlord to keep a dog? Is the dog already living with you? Are you ready to pick up your new family member in Pottenstein? Then we look forward to your inquiry.

About Abby (w)

What life with Abby (w) looks like

Abby (w) is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. in Nürnberg.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Abby (w), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Abby (w)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Abby (w) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Abby (w) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Abby (w) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Abby (w) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Abby (w) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
