adoption requirements adoption process Now adopt this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Abeba has found a home together with Lizzy! Her story: Cluj, Romania. Little Abeba, the unfortunate chick, is searching for her family to settle in and feel comfortable! Originally, Abeba came from a sterilization campaign in Chinteni and was taken in with her mother and two siblings at one of our foster homes right after birth, when they were only a few days old. Sadly, the third kitten passed away at just three weeks old due to a heart defect. Our pretty tricolor cat, along with her brother Aaren, has been waiting for a suitable home for quite some time. Unfortunately, Abeba hasn't had much luck so far; at around three months old, she fell unhappy in the foster home and had to spend a few days in the animal clinic. Due to the head trauma she suffered, she still holds her head slightly crooked. This handicap doesn't bother our playful kitten at all. Now she plays with the other teens in the cat room as if the tragic misfortune never happened. Due to her mild ataxia, we would like to place Abeba in a suitable apartment living environment, as she might be at a disadvantage in the wild. Additionally, she is used to living only indoors. If her new home provides enough engagement, climbing, and play opportunities, she will be well taken care of. At first, Abeba is skeptical in new situations but once she settles in, there is no holding her back. She would like to share her new adventures and would bring a friend or a companion from her current foster home, if no fellow animal is waiting for her at your place. Abeba can travel at any time and is then, like all our cats and tomcats, neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, flea-treated, and tested negative for FIV and FeLV. She also has an EU pet passport and is ready to go. Who will give our kitten a loving and safe home? Thank you, Silvie.

About Abeba

What life with Abeba looks like

Abeba is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed cat waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Abeba, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Abeba?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Abeba on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Abeba if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Abeba already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Abeba isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Abeba and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
