Health: pancreatitis, heart defect, spleen tumors. Location: temporary home, Warsaw. Contact for adoption: +48 609 777 596 Adoption survey -> HERE Abi is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, approximately 7-9 years old. She is the third female in our lively group and is currently recovering in Marta TorbaMi's reliable temporary home. It would be difficult to imagine a better place for her to start. The dog showed us from day one as a delicate, gentle creature eager to be close to humans. At home, with regular walks, she maintains cleanliness beautifully. She is calm, curious about what is happening around her, likes affection, but does not impose her presence. She would gladly accompany people everywhere, but left alone does not experience difficult emotions, does not destroy and patiently waits for the return of the caregiver. Peaceful dogs, children, people arouse her curiosity and sympathy (she already has several dog friends on the estate). However, she needs a moment to trust new people. She avoids noise and violent behavior, which is why we recommend her to a quiet house. On walks, she walks nicely on a leash, is very attentive to the guide, calmly passes by people and dogs. Abi also adapts well outside the home. Restaurant, trip out of town, short visit to the store - if she feels safe and has support from the caregiver, she adapts perfectly to new situations. Healthwise: for today we have diagnosed pancreatitis in her, she has a heart defect, will need to take Vetmedin for life. She is under ophthalmological control. Abi also has spleen tumors that require regular ultrasound checks and BOAS correction planned in the future. What impresses all this - Abi maintains good spirits and tolerates all visits, examinations, medication administration and procedures with remarkable calmness. This is a totally model patient and an exceptionally brave girl. She is waiting for her own home in Warsaw. Has Abi caught your heart? Are you thinking about adopting her? Kontakt w sprawie adopcji: 609 777 596Ankieta adopcyjna -> TUTAJ Abi to sunia Cavalier King Charles Spaniel w wieku ok. 7-9 lat. Unika natomiast hałasu i gwałtownych zachowań, stąd polecamy ją do spokojnego domku. To totalnie wzorowa pacjentka i wyjątkowo dzielna dziewuszka. Na swój własny dom czeka w Warszawie. Czy Abi chwyciła Cię za serducho? Myślisz o jej adopcji? Odezwij się do nas - 501 797 018

About ABI

What life with ABI looks like

ABI is a senior dog waiting at Fundacja AST (Adoptuj Staffa i Teriera) in Poland.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting ABI, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about ABI?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja AST (Adoptuj Staffa i Teriera) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw ABI on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt ABI if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja AST (Adoptuj Staffa i Teriera) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is ABI already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if ABI isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja AST (Adoptuj Staffa i Teriera) early rather than rehoming privately; they know ABI and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
