Adopt Aby

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 5 years

adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process The cute Aby with the long fur has arrived in her foster home and is settling in great. She gets along well with her dog buddies and is already house-trained. She can also walk on a leash very well. Aby is in the best dog age and wants to explore the world. She is active and enjoys beautiful outings or hikes. But even head or nose work brings her a lot of fun. Aby is very playful, curious, and generally not afraid in everyday situations. She can drive a car, climb stairs, put on her harness, and is very loyal. So an absolute dream dog 🙂 Aby and another male dog were found in a Romanian village near the land of one of our animal rescuers. Unfortunately, she already has 4 dogs and couldn't keep the two. So the two came to a private shelter in Zalau. The charming young female dog measures about 60-63 cm in height and weighs 25 kg. Her hazel eyes are particularly striking. Aby is initially a bit reserved towards people. But as soon as she realizes that you have no ill intentions, she likes to be petted and she enjoys being spoiled with treats. From the appearance, Aby could be a Ciobănesc Românesc Mioritic Mix. Even though her behavior so far doesn't show anything of a herding dog. But Aby is still very young and her breed characteristics will likely become more apparent in puberty and beyond. Currently, she is already starting to watch the garden in the foster home. Aby is very active and more temperamental. She is looking for active people who can take her on great outings like hikes, running, etc. or also enjoy dog sports like mantrailing or agility, etc. The sporty Aby would be very happy about that. Aby is looking for dog-experienced people who can raise her lovingly and consistently and not just wrap her around their little finger, because that really doesn't come easy to her. She wishes for a more rural home with a garden. Herding dogs bring great qualities. People who already have experience with herding dogs don't want any other breeds anymore, as they are despite their big heads very loyal and faithful companions. Aby is microchipped, neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea treated. She also has her EU pet passport with her. Thanks to Katrin G.! You gave Aby her name and thus an identity. As of: 24.05.

Stand: 24.05.2026

About Aby

What life with Aby looks like

Aby is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Aby, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Aby?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Aby on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Aby if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Aby already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Aby isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Aby and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
