Ace

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 18 months

Introducing our handsome gentleman Ace, who was brought into our care as a sign over after his owners could no longer care for him anymore. Ace is an 18 month old Staffy cross and is now looking for a home to call his own forever . Ace is such a wonderful boy, he absolutely loves long walks with our volunteers and takes in all the sniffs like it’s a full time job. Ace is a typical staffy and greets people in staffy style , so if your not in to body slams and big licks then Ace isn’t the one for you! His new owners will need to work on calm greetings. Other than his excitable greetings Ace is really a great dog all round . He absolutely loves to play fetch and enjoys a good game of tug too! Ace is great with other dogs And could potentially live with another resident canine . He has come from a house that had a 12 week old baby and he loved her, we would be happy for him to go to a home with children pending introductions, he could also potentially live with cats too. Ace is fully house trained. He is extremely stressed in kennels and we would like to get him into a new home asap. Surely someone is out there for this lovely boy! About Ace

What life with Ace looks like

Ace is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Cardiff Dogs Home.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ace, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ace?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Cardiff Dogs Home handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ace on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ace if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Cardiff Dogs Home will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ace already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ace isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Cardiff Dogs Home early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ace and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
