Adopt Achtung, hier kommt Diesel

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 8 years

Diesel has been with us since June 2026 at our area. He is friendly with children and cats, gets along well with female dogs and neutered males by sympathy, but can be insecure with loud noises, needing some orientation. He is a hunting-type dog, very active, and enjoys nose work. A lively, powerful companion would be a good match for Diesel, who originally came from a family and had to be given up due to the separation of his owners. For Diesel, this was a big change, but he makes it easy to get to know him: He is initially very friendly and open with people. Diesel is a male dog who brings many things that make cohabitation easy: He knows children, cats, and can travel well by car, showing compatibility with other dogs when appropriate. With female dogs, it usually comes naturally, but male dogs are not necessarily among his favorites, especially if they are unneutered. Here, as so often, it depends on mutual sympathy. Outside, Diesel is attentive and brings a prey drive. Small animals and deer clearly arouse his interest, so his new people should handle this with safety and responsibility. We therefore wish for people who are willing to clearly lead him and offer him meaningful mental stimulation. Diesel particularly enjoys nose work. Feeding searches, trail work, or similar tasks would be a great way for him to keep his mind and nose busy. For those who enjoy working with a dog, Diesel is a motivated partner who likes to do something. In new situations and with loud noises, Diesel can react a bit scared. He needs people who give him security without pressuring him. People who stay calm, give him time, and show him that the world can be loud but not automatically dangerous. For Diesel, we are looking for a home where he can arrive, be understood, and receive a fair mix of leadership, mental stimulation, and calm. For those who are looking for a dog who doesn't just go along but grows with you, Diesel should definitely be met. Contact us with a brief application by mail or phone as always! Diesel looks forward to you!. Gets along with other dogs.

About Achtung, hier kommt Diesel

What life with Achtung, hier kommt Diesel looks like

Achtung, hier kommt Diesel is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Oldenburg in Oldenburg.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Achtung, hier kommt Diesel, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Achtung, hier kommt Diesel?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Oldenburg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Achtung, hier kommt Diesel on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Achtung, hier kommt Diesel if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Oldenburg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Achtung, hier kommt Diesel already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Achtung, hier kommt Diesel isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Oldenburg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Achtung, hier kommt Diesel and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
