Pops

Male · Adult · 6 years

The story of Pops commands respect. This Hungarian crossbreed and boxer, aged 6, was rescued from the Investigation Service of the Foundation Assistance aux Animaux after suffering severe abuses in the past and spending over ten months in the pound. Today, he discovers kindness and safety thanks to the benevolence of the Foundation's teams. Despite his heavy past, Pops is a very gentle, affectionate, and human-friendly dog. He understands basic commands, loves company, quiet moments, and petting. His tender gaze testifies to his remarkable ability to trust again. For his well-being, we seek an experienced foster family who has already had dogs; ideally of this size; and willing to commit to behavioral follow-up if necessary. Pops may exhibit resource guarding (food or toys); thus, he will need a calm and stable environment. His interactions with other animals are not known at this time. As a precaution, we prefer a family without other pets or young children. This animal is not suitable for homes with young children. This animal needs to be the only pet in the home.

FR·Show original

About Pops

What life with Pops looks like

Pops is a large adult dog waiting at Fondation Assistance aux Animaux in Paris.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Resource guarding behavior with food and toys, requires behavioral monitoring

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pops, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pops?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fondation Assistance aux Animaux handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pops on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pops if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fondation Assistance aux Animaux will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pops already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pops isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fondation Assistance aux Animaux early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pops and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
