Adopt Shaka

French Spaniel · Male · Kitten

Shaka is a French pointer found wandering and taken in by our shelter. Since then, he has been patiently waiting for the family that will offer him the stability and affection he deserves. Dynamic and playful, Shaka loves running and fetching the ball, but he also knows how to appreciate quiet and relaxed moments. Very affectionate, he shows attentiveness and closeness to those he trusts, though he needs time to build this bond, especially with men, whom he may initially be more reserved around. With women, the connection is generally more spontaneous. His ideal family would therefore consist of an active, gentle, and available woman, preferably living alone. Shaka could also consider the presence of a man, provided he takes the necessary time to earn his trust. In terms of compatibility, Shaka gets along well: As of January 2026, it will have been five years since Shaka has been waiting for a forever family. Having only known the shelter, he will need some time to adapt to a new daily routine, but he will prove to be a faithful, calm, affectionate, and playful companion for someone willing to give him a chance.

About Shaka

What life with Shaka looks like

Shaka is a medium-sized puppy/kitten french spaniel cat waiting at Fondation Assistance aux Animaux in Paris.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

Note from the shelter: Needs time to build trust, especially with men. Prefers female handlers initially.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Shaka, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Shaka?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fondation Assistance aux Animaux handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Shaka on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Shaka if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fondation Assistance aux Animaux will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Shaka already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Shaka isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fondation Assistance aux Animaux early rather than rehoming privately; they know Shaka and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
