Aday

Mixed Breed · Male

Description Our animal welfare workers report: Aday was suddenly sighted and subsequently picked up by the Animal Police, captured, and brought to the local animal shelter. It is unlikely that Aday had been living on the streets for a long time, as dogs in the region are very thoroughly removed from the streets, and this large, noticeable four-legged creature appeared suddenly. Given his size and the fact that Aday is likely a mixed breed herding dog, it is suspected that he was abandoned and came from a farm. The handsome, rather lazy fellow had no chip, and the animal shelter initially tried actively to find his owner, but unfortunately, no one came forward. Aday gets along very well with female dogs and also with friendly male dogs, but he does not like pushy male dogs. Toward humans, Aday is nice and not shy, whether men or women. Overall, he is rather laid-back and can entertain himself. No noticeable fears have been observed so far. Aday quickly learned (or already knew) to walk politely on a leash—however, his future primary caregiver should be aware that Aday has physical strength, even though he can walk peacefully. At the animal shelter, Aday goes out in the run with a small group of submissive male dogs and a lively female dog, which works very well. Although Aday likely has "herding" genes, he does not patrol but enjoys his peace. Aday does not necessarily need to be rehomed as a single dog. A garden and a rural setting would be welcome in his future home. The animal welfare workers suspect that he would enjoy a farm or a property. We wish for Aday a rural, suitable home with responsible, patient people who can read him. Who would like to show this laid-back heavyweight that we humans are capable of affection and care and that he is loved for himself? Information about the herding dog Please note:

About Aday

What life with Aday looks like

Aday is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierischgeholfen e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Aday, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Aday?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierischgeholfen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Aday on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Aday if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierischgeholfen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Aday already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Aday isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierischgeholfen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Aday and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
