adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Adele has been locally adopted! Her story: Bistrita, Romania – Adele currently lives in a transport box, warm but only in this box. She was found in the forest and brought to safety, but there is no space anywhere for her, making this the only accommodation option. Adele is approximately 3 years old and weighs 17 kg, standing about 50 cm tall. She is thus a medium-sized female dog, easily recognizable as an American Staff Terrier or a mixed breed. She is very affectionate with people and gets along well with other dogs. She is allowed to go out once a day to play, but then she must return to the box, which breaks our hearts, but we have no other option for her. Thus, every day counts, and we hope she won't have to spend weeks or months there. However, there is a small obstacle to overcome in finding a family. Adele is a list dog, likely an American Staffordshire Terrier mix. This means she falls into category 1 on the so-called Rasseliste in Germany, and it is not allowed for us to let her travel to Germany. She can, however, be rehomed to Sweden, Belgium, or some cantons in Switzerland. American Staffords are known to be strong-willed dogs with a high energy drive and thus require both physical and mental stimulation. They seek people who can lead them with love, but also consistency and sovereignty. American Staffords have a playful nature and are highly intelligent, making them eager to learn. They are suitable for many different roles, such as in dog sports, working environments, or as companion dogs. American Staffords are very sensitive dogs and are better suited for dog-experienced owners who can meet the physical and psychological needs of their four-legged friend. Adele travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas to her new home. She brings her own EU pet passport with her. Who has a place for this sweet female dog? Many thanks to Melanie W.! You have given Adele her pretty name.

Vielen Dank an Melanie W.! Du hast Adele ihren hübschen Namen geschenkt.

About Adele

What life with Adele looks like

Adele is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Adele, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Adele?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Adele on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Adele if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Adele already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Adele isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Adele and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
