We don’t know exactly what happened to him, but we do know he deserves someone who will help him leave it behind. Adler is a loyal, noble dog. He’s affectionate with those who earn his trust, and once he gives it, he becomes a devoted, attentive companion. He loves his walks and is learning to enjoy them a little more each day. His journey hasn’t been without obstacles. He arrived frightened, seeing help almost as a threat, and he still finds it hard to trust new people right away. Our trainers work with him every day, and the progress has been remarkable — Adler is slowly learning that not everyone is going to hurt him. He is also positive for leishmaniasis, but he’s already on treatment and it’s well under control, which doesn’t stop him from living a normal, active life. We’re now looking for an adopter who understands the needs of a dog who has suffered and needs time. Someone with patience, experience, and a willingness to earn his heart step by step. What Adler Needs: Patience and Understanding: Especially during first contact and the trust-building process. A Stable Environment: Clear routines and calm surroundings help him feel secure. Experienced Adopters: Ideally someone familiar with shepherd breeds or emotional rehabilitation needs. Exercise and Stimulation: He’s an active dog who needs walks and physical activity. Unconditional Love: To show him that this time, the help he receives is here to stay. If you can offer Adler the home and patience he deserves, get in touch! Help him write the next chapter of his story. 🏠🐾 For more information, call us at 93 840 27 77 or send an email to Apadrina a Adler per 1€ al mes

About Adler

What life with Adler looks like

Adler is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Protectora d in Spain.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Adler, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Adler?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Protectora d handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Adler on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Adler if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Protectora d will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Adler already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Adler isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Protectora d early rather than rehoming privately; they know Adler and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (CA). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
