Adopt Sonia

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 3 years

Sonia is an affectionate, fun-loving girl who believes everyone she meets is her new best friend. She loves being involved in everything her people are doing, and her enthusiasm for life is infectious – she's guaranteed to keep you smiling. She loves getting out and about, taking in the world through her nose, and enjoys exploring new places with her favourite people by her side. Sonia could potentially live with children aged 10 years and over who are comfortable around bouncy dogs, as she can get overexcited when greeting people. She is looking for a home as the only dog but would love to have some sociable dog walking friends to share her adventures with. As much as Sonia loves people, she can find being left alone difficult, particularly while settling into a new home. She is looking for adopters who can gradually build up her time alone and provide plenty of company in those early weeks. Her new family should also be happy to continue positive, reward-based training to help her build confidence with handling and support her through any challenges she may face. If you're looking for a happy, playful companion who will throw herself into every adventure before snuggling up for some well-earned affection, Sonia could be the perfect addition to your family. About Adopt Sonia

What life with Adopt Sonia looks like

Adopt Sonia is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hope Rescue in Pontyclun.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Adopt Sonia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Adopt Sonia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hope Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Adopt Sonia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Adopt Sonia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hope Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Adopt Sonia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Adopt Sonia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hope Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Adopt Sonia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
