Adopt Adoptuj si Bata

Male · Adult · 6 years

Batík has come a long way with us. He was once in a new home, but because he is complicated and has serious health issues, he came back to us. From a desperate wreck, full of sores all over his body and peeling skin on his paws, he is now a handsome and lovable dog. When he arrived with us in 2022, he was like a body without a soul. He just lay around, ate only from the hand, and had pain. With the help of a veterinarian, we managed to get him back on his feet, and despite the unfavorable diagnosis of systemic lupus, he is holding on thanks to a special diet, skin care, and medication, and most importantly, he is enjoying life again. Batík is a bit of a character, loves walks, and rolling in the grass. He's a big joker and not at all greedy. He can bark all day long. We now know that his time here with us is limited, but as long as he is happy and wants to fight, we will fight with him! Bat's story with us began with a call from the vet. "There's a dog with a skin infection. Can you take care of him?" Hello people, I'm Bat, and I thought my time was up. My owners took me to the vet a few days ago, first saying I needed to be cured, and then there were talks about the last injection. What led to that? I don't know. Fortunately for me, the doctor explained to my people that this wasn't the way to handle it, and arranged for me to stay at Voříškově. They are known for taking in mostly dogs that have bitten someone. And I admit, I did bite too. Now I'm in the shelter and have a second chance at life. Bat is about two years old, mixed breed, weighs 40 kg. He's a little shy, but likes people he knows. Unfortunately, he was supposed to be euthanized. He bit his owner, they couldn't handle him, they didn't raise him properly. They were afraid of him, couldn't deal with his health problems, and it got very far. Finally, they came up with the worst solution and decided to let Bat go. In today's times, when people abandon dogs in unbelievable numbers, shelters are bursting at the seams, adoptions aren't happening, and shelters can't take in dogs anymore. I hear the words "we'll have to let him go" very often. Slowly, I'm starting to fear answering the phone. Will another threat of letting him go come next? What if it's not just a threat and another innocent animal will lose its life, which we didn't have space for... It's depressing and hard to cope with psychologically. Bat was lucky in misfortune. He suffers from a terrible skin infection, his wounds bleed when touched, and his paws are basically falling apart. He can't walk very well. He has pain, his whole coat itches. We will be extremely grateful for your support. Treating Bat is expensive and never-ending. Account number 2500648929 / 2010, in the message to the recipient please specify Bat. No a to jsem, přiznávám, provedl i já.

About Adoptuj si Bata

What life with Adoptuj si Bata looks like

Adoptuj si Bata is a large adult dog waiting at Voříškov in Czech Republic.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇿Adopting from Czech Republic

Czech shelters (útulky) include sterilization, vaccinations, and microchip ID. The adopter signs a written contract (smlouva) — the shelter may follow up to verify wellbeing.

Frequently asked

Adopting Adoptuj si Bata, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Adoptuj si Bata?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Voříškov handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Adoptuj si Bata on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Adoptuj si Bata if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Voříškov will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Adoptuj si Bata already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Adoptuj si Bata isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Voříškov early rather than rehoming privately; they know Adoptuj si Bata and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (CS). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
