adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process The wonderful Agapi has unfortunately escaped and was picked up by the train… She had unfortunately not been very lucky in her short life 🙁 The sweet Agapi belonged to our long-term residents for nearly 2 years. She waited in vain for an application… Now, the pretty female dog finally had her chance and embarked on her great journey! She now lives in her foster home and is catching up on everything she missed. Agapi is a beautiful female dog, with her perfect, medium size, making her ideal for all activities. She was found with her 7 siblings. Eight girl puppies all at once. And each one more beautiful than the last… Now, all the siblings can finally travel. Agapi is already house-trained, gets along well with her fellow animals, and currently lives with two other dogs in her foster home. She is looking forward to her beautiful walks and was also quite brave in the water! Playing with her doggy friends has also been a new discovery for Agapi. She is always cautious, refined, and takes care of herself. Agapi is among the smaller of her siblings, measuring around 50-53 cm. With her spotted nose, she immediately catches the eye. She has a shortened tail, which we believe she was born with. This does not in any way affect the beautiful female dog. We suspect that Agapi is a mix of a herding dog, possibly a Border Collie mix. With her short tail, she is unfortunately not allowed to enter Switzerland. She is very friendly with humans and enjoys cuddles. However, she is initially cautious with strangers and needs to build trust. She especially needs more time with men. For Agapi, we wish for a friendly and loving interaction with experienced people who have no high expectations of her and are not easily discouraged by setbacks. Children should already be old enough and know how to handle dogs with respect and responsibility. Agapi wishes for a quiet home, preferably in the countryside, with an enclosed garden.

About Agapi

What life with Agapi looks like

Agapi is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Agapi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Agapi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Agapi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Agapi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Agapi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Agapi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Agapi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
