Adopt Agata

Female · Senior · 14 years

After some time in a foster home and a safe environment, Agata has become quite clingy. Once she's taken you into her heart, she won't leave your side and will even look out for you. She defends her people and doesn't like to share. She lets you trim her claws without any fuss and isn't scared of the vacuum cleaner. Since she can't handle noise and stress, her future HappyHome should definitely be a quiet one. She also doesn't like being alone, so her favorite person should ideally spend as much time with her as possible. Agata is still very afraid of certain things, like when someone reaches over her, or the play wand; we can only imagine what she went through in the many years she spent on the streets... Our little miracle, Agata, originally comes from Spain and was adopted by a family in Germany six years ago. Shortly after moving into her new life, the female cat escaped and disappeared without a trace. Days turned into weeks, weeks into months, and months into years. What no one expected: After more than six years, Agata reappeared just one kilometer from her former home. We could hardly believe our luck, and she is healthy and lively. Since the former adopters had already welcomed a new cat into their home shortly before Agata's reappearance, she couldn't return there. Therefore, she is now waiting in a loving foster home for her new HappyHome for a few more wonderful years. At first, she is still a bit fearful and reserved, but she soon starts to enjoy every bit of affection. She has already been thoroughly examined by a vet and is healthy, freshly vaccinated, and tested negative again for FiV and FeLV. Who will give this beautiful survivor a loving home for her last beautiful years?

About Agata

What life with Agata looks like

Agata is a large senior cat waiting at Aktion Tierisch Happy e.V. in Germany.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Agata, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Agata?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Aktion Tierisch Happy e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Agata on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Agata if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Aktion Tierisch Happy e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Agata already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Agata isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Aktion Tierisch Happy e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Agata and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
