Agatka

Female · Senior · 12 years

age: 12 years (1.3.2014) weight: 37 kg Agátka is a 10-year-old female German Shepherd who definitely does not belong among "old iron." Although she has some experience and spent most of her life outdoors, she is in excellent condition. She loves retrieving and immediately reacts to treats, which will make training and shared moments easier for you. Although she has a slight overweight, she is still full of life, and with regular exercise, she can get back in shape. On a leash, she is manageable, although with her strength she can pull – but it's enough to remind her firmly and she will calm down immediately. Sometimes she likes to jump, which is a sign of her joy, but she also reacts well to appropriate correction. Agátka maintained cleanliness, is calm in the kennel run, and does not destroy anything, which proves her well-mannered nature. She will be a great companion for someone who does not want a slow retired dog or an extremely active dog. Agátka enjoys going on trips, but is also satisfied with a short walk, and if the weather is bad, she will happily curl up on the couch and rest. However, she is reactive towards other dogs, so she would be happiest as an only dog or with an owner who can work with this challenge. She would be best suited in a house with a garden and constant access inside. If Agátka appeals to you and you would like to offer her a home, please fill out our questionnaire – and we will contact you later. Please read the adoption conditions:

Pokud se vám Agátka líbí a máte zájem jí nabídnout domov, vyplňte nám prosím dotazník – a my vás budeme zpětně kontaktovat. Prosíme o přečtení podmínek adopce:

About Agatka

What life with Agatka looks like

Agatka is a large senior dog waiting at Útulek Dogsy in Czech Republic.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇨🇿Adopting from Czech Republic

Frequently asked

Adopting Agatka, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Agatka?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Útulek Dogsy handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Agatka on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Agatka if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Útulek Dogsy will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Agatka already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Agatka isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Útulek Dogsy early rather than rehoming privately; they know Agatka and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (CS). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
