Agnes

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 6 years

Agnes, a beautiful collie-type girl. Agnes came to us three days before Christmas. She was caught in a live trap. All of her previous six-year life remains a mystery for us. What did she do? Did she live in a house or perhaps guarded the yard? Was she treated well or the opposite? We will never know, we can only guess and read the tea leaves. What are the facts? Agnes has no problems with people, she just needs time to trust. And once she does: she enjoys every walk, allows herself to be brushed and petted. She plays cheerfully, explores the area, walks very nicely on a leash. But. There is a big but. Agnes is terrified of street traffic and crowds. Cars really stress her out, as do encountering people. If she sees a person from a distance - it's half the battle. Much worse if a group of several people appears. Returning to the animal shelter, where we pass by people and dogs, especially stresses her. Agnes would thrive in a place far away from the city, where she could slowly and calmly, together with her caregiver, learn a new life. In the animal shelter, she builds nice relationships with other dogs. It's really worth it! Agnes is wonderful. If you like collies, our charge will probably suit your taste. Agnes is estimated to be around 6 years old, weighs 34 kg, and has been spayed. We do not give dogs on chains or to kennels. If you want to know more details, call volunteer Karolina: 501 If you want to help this dog, but cannot adopt him - we invite you for walks! Every day during . polski English Deutsch Agnes, przepiękna dziewczyna w typie owczarka. Powrót do Schroniska, gdzie mijamy ludzi i psy wyjątkowo ją stresuje. Agnes świetnie by się odnalazła w miejscu z daleka od miasta, gdzie powoli w spokojnych warunkach, razem ze swoim opiekunem mogłaby uczyć się nowego życia. W schronisku nawiązuje fajne relacje z innymi psami. Naprawdę warto! Agnes jest cudowna. Jeżeli lubisz owczarki, nasza podopieczna zapewne przypadnie Ci do gustu. Codziennie w godzinach . About Agnes

What life with Agnes looks like

Agnes is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Choszczno in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Agnes, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Agnes?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Choszczno handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Agnes on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Agnes if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Choszczno will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Agnes already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Agnes isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Choszczno early rather than rehoming privately; they know Agnes and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
