Adopt Aiko

AikoDateOfBirth: 01.09.2024. Gender: male. Breed: MischlingShoulderHeight: 63 cm. neutered: Yes Enthusiasm on four legs, seeking his happinessAiko's start in life was far from easy. The young male dog came from North Greece and was rescued from an illegal shelter in February 2026 – a place where dogs were left to fend for themselves: without adequate care, without protection, and without real chances. Many animals were in a shocking state, emaciated and weakened. And yet, Aiko managed to preserve something: his enthusiasm for life. Thanks to the loving care of dedicated animal welfare workers, Aiko learned that there is another world, a world full of safety, affection, and security. Today, he shows himself as a cheerful, friendly, and lively dog who simply wants to run and enjoy life. Aiko loves movement: running, playing, exploring, and he prefers to do it all together with his people. He is curious, attentive, and has great joy in exploring the world. With other dogs, he gets along well. However, when it comes to eating, he likes to share with others, so he should be fed separately in a multi-dog household. In contact with people, Aiko also shows his sensitive and finely tuned side. In new or unfamiliar situations, he sometimes reacts cautiously and retreats quietly. But if given time and met with patience and friendliness, he quickly gains trust. Then he truly blossoms and shows his loving nature, especially enjoying the act of standing on his hind legs and "hugging" his people with great affection. For Aiko, we wish for an active home with people who share the joy of exploring the world together with him. People who give him security and accompany him lovingly. A home in the countryside, ideally with a garden, would be perfect for him. Long walks, movement, and shared experiences will help him continue to flourish. Cats should not live in the new home.Aiko is, of course, medically attended to, microchipped, neutered, fully vaccinated, and was tested negative for all Mediterranean diseases. He possesses an EU pet passport and has already packed his bag – ready for his new life. Our dogs are exclusively rehomed in families where they do not have to be left alone regularly and for extended periods.

AikoGeburtsdatum: 01.09.2024. About Aiko

What life with Aiko looks like

Aiko is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hundesuche Tiere in Not Bayern in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Aiko, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Aiko?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hundesuche Tiere in Not Bayern handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Aiko on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Aiko if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hundesuche Tiere in Not Bayern will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Aiko already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Aiko isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hundesuche Tiere in Not Bayern early rather than rehoming privately; they know Aiko and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
