She doesn’t seek human interaction, won’t let anyone touch or handle her, and prefers to watch from a distance. She spends much of her time taking refuge in the cave of a scratching post, where she feels safe. She is an independent cat who needs peace and quiet and always goes about her business at her own pace. However, she gets on very well with other cats. In fact, she tends to seek out the company of the more shy and independent cats, with whom she shares spaces and feels at ease. Aimee needs a family with experience of cats, who understand and respect her nature. A peaceful home, without pressure or expectations, where she can live safely and where every small step forward is seen as a great achievement. Living with other well-balanced cats might even help her to gain confidence over time. Not all cats express affection in the same way. Some, like Aimee, simply need a place where they feel protected, respected and accepted just as they are. Perhaps Aimee will never be a lap cat, or perhaps one day she’ll surprise whoever decides to give her a chance.
