Aimy

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

In the shelter since: June 2026 Estimated age: born around March 2025 Estimated shoulder height: approx. 60–69 cm Estimated weight: approx. 20–24 kg Meet Aimy in another video! Aimy is a cheerful, cuddly little lady with plenty of charm and energy! This furry friend comes from a kill shelter in Romania. Even there, our team noticed Aimy right away because of her friendly nature. We explain how dogs end up in such shelters—and much more—in our animal welfare FAQ. Aimy is a friendly and open-minded dog who thoroughly enjoys human company. She actively seeks closeness, asks for petting, and loves to lean against her trusted person—sometimes even placing her head trustingly in their lap. Overall, she shows curiosity, is interested in her surroundings, and likes to orient herself toward people. Typical for her young age, Aimy brings lots of energy with her and happily jumps up to greet people. When interacting with other dogs, Aimy proves to be very social. She lives comfortably with fellow dogs in the kennel and has also confirmed her good compatibility in the dog test. On the playground, she didn’t react at all to barking dogs in neighboring kennels and remained relaxed. On the playground, Aimy presented herself as friendly, balanced, and people-oriented. She thoroughly enjoyed long petting sessions, allowed herself to be brushed, and even entertained herself independently with a ball from time to time. Putting on a harness and walking on a leash came easily and confidently to her. We’re looking for people who understand that rescue dogs have a certain history behind them. At the shelter, we can never predict exactly how a dog will adjust to life in Germany. That’s why we’re seeking individuals who bring patience, perseverance, and kindness to the table. But one thing is certain: Whoever adopts instead of buying not only gives an animal a second chance but also actively chooses to stand against animal suffering—and to share their life with a truly special companion by their side. Already smitten? Send us a self-disclosure form! Adoption If you’re considering adopting a dog, please read through our adoption process first. All dogs are vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, flea-treated, and spayed or neutered before being rehomed (with the exception of puppies under 6 months old and very senior dogs). Dogs older than one year are also tested for Mediterranean diseases. If you still have questions, feel free to send a message to our adoption team.

About Aimy

What life with Aimy looks like

Aimy is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hunderettung Europa e.V. in Duisburg.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Aimy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Aimy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hunderettung Europa e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Aimy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Aimy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hunderettung Europa e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Aimy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Aimy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hunderettung Europa e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Aimy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
