Aire

Female · Senior · 10 years

Date of Birth: 01/08/2016. Size: Medium (24 Kg). Health: Vaccinated and dewormed. Negative for Leishmania and Ehrlichia. Spayed. In Cuencanimal since: 05/2017. Other information: Good and noble. Character: Senior Podenco hounds have a special light; they are like a good wine that has aged and only offers sweetness. There are dogs that pass their life in silence, but whose presence fills everything, Aire is one of those souls. Those of us lucky enough to walk by her side know that her beauty is not just physical; it is a mix of pure innocence and a depth of kindness that moves you. Looking into Aire's eyes is like peering into a window of peace. She is not a dog that asks for the impossible; she does not seek a miracle, just a chance. Despite having taken the animal shelter as her only world, Aire has not lost the ability to be amazed. She is the first to gift us joy each morning, with that wise prudence of one who observes the world with respect, but with a heart that burns with the desire to trust. She walks wonderfully on the leash, even has explored the city with bravery and enjoys the paths of the animal shelter (only the tractors take a little bit of her calm!). She gets in and out of the car by herself, always ready for the next adventure. Her heart is gold, her nobility is her compass; she just needs to feel that, finally, someone tells her: “Relax, little one, you are at home.” All her life has been the animal shelter, but we refuse to believe that her story ends here. We know that that wonderful family is out there, looking for her without knowing it. With the caregivers and volunteers, she is super affectionate, rubbing against our legs like a kitten and has a noble gaze that pierces your soul. Meeting her eyes is to understand that you are in front of a good, sensitive, and full-of-light being. In the animal shelter, she coexists with two large dogs in the same enclosure, each eats from their own bowl and there are no problems of coexistence. Aire has never shown dominance and shares caresses without difficulty. The only point to note is the protection of resources (food, and to a lesser extent, toys). This needs to be controlled, especially if she coexists with other dogs, avoiding leaving food or toys unattended until the bond is well established, for precaution, it is not recommended to leave them unsupervised at the beginning. History: Current status: Aire is a large and veteran dog, and we know that she is not the profile that has it easiest to find a family. But we also know that she is a genuine treasure. It hurts to think that her destiny could be to spend the rest of her life in the animal shelter. She has adapted, yes, but we do not want to give up. We dream that someone will be able to see what we see: a wonderful dog that only needs time, patience, delicacy, and love to open her heart. NOTE FOR adopters: Extreme escape precautions during the family adaptation period. Note: this animal shows resource guarding.

Fecha de nacimiento: 01/08/2016. Tamaño: mediana (24 Kg). Salud: Vacunada y desparasitada. Negativo leishmania y ehrlichia. Esterilizada. About Aire

What life with Aire looks like

Aire is a senior dog waiting at CuencAnimal in Spain.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Aire, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Aire?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. CuencAnimal handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Aire on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Aire if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — CuencAnimal will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Aire already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Aire isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with CuencAnimal early rather than rehoming privately; they know Aire and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ES). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
