adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Akimo has found a home! His story: 4 little puppies alone in the forest. Akimo, Jona, Emmi, and Josie had the good fortune of being found by our animal rescuer and are now safely in a temporary home. Akimo is an approximately 6-month-old, friendly, and playful puppy. Together with his sisters, he blossoms in the Romanian foster home. He is already well socialized there and knows how to interact with people, other dogs, and cats. In new or unfamiliar situations, Akimo sometimes shows a little insecurity – typical puppy behavior. He then observes carefully at first. But with a little patience, he warms up quickly and shows his curious, playful, and affectionate side. Children are also no problem for Akimo. Akimo is compatible with other dogs and cats and is therefore suitable for a home where other animals already live. He is ready to explore the world and wants to learn many things. A visit to a positively working dog training class would surely please him. Here, the bond between dog and owner is strengthened. Because soon Akimo will enter puberty. His ears will then be on full alert, the recall will become a nice suggestion, and the rules that applied yesterday are optional today. He will re-explore his boundaries and challenge his family with charming arrogance. But: Whoever invests patience, love, and structured upbringing during these tiring but utterly comical months will receive a wonderful, loyal, and reliable companion. Although Akimo does well in his foster home, he still wishes for his own family. A cozy dog bed that belongs to him alone. Walks and lots of cuddle hours, because his foster home cannot provide that due to the many stray puppies. Akimo travels vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and treated for fleas and can move into his home for an adoption fee of 500 Euros. His EU pet passport is already in his travel bag. We thank Brigitte P. for the naming.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen!

About Akimo

What life with Akimo looks like

Akimo is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Akimo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Akimo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Akimo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Akimo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Akimo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Akimo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Akimo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
