Alan

Mixed Breed · Male · Baby

Breed: Mixed Cavy-Gerbil. Gender: Male, neutered on April 1, 2026. Alan can safely mate with females starting May 13, 2026. Date of birth: November 2025 Appearance: Alan has a glossy black coat and beautiful, large ears. His ancestors must have been larger rabbits. Perhaps he will grow a bit more (as of April 2026). Why in the animal shelter: Alan and his siblings came from poor husbandry. Health: No noticeable issues. Personality: Alan is a lively young bunny with a lot of energy. He is interested in everything and likes to stick his sweet nose into everything. However, some noises or unknown people make him feel uncomfortable, so he prefers to run away. Alan has an enormous need for movement. In his new home, he wishes for a lot of space, preferably in a rabbit room or in a suitable apartment. Of course, Alan does not want to be alone either. He would like an equally active female rabbit as a partner to experience wonderful adventures together during daily free roam in the apartment. General on husbandry: Rabbits are social animals and must therefore be kept at least in pairs. We discourage single housing. Our neutered male rabbits seek a female rabbit as a partner, and our female rabbits seek a neutered male rabbit as a partner. Generally, rabbits of approximately the same age usually fit each other best: young rabbits usually have more temperament and energy, while older ones need more rest. Rabbits do not like to spend their time in cages. They want to hop around as much as possible in the apartment. It is best if they have a large run or their own room. As a retreat option, they need a wooden house or cardboard boxes. The most important food for rabbits is hay, hay, and more hay. Only by grinding hay can they wear down their teeth as nature intended. In addition, a daily ration of fresh food (vegetables, but no or very little fruit) is important. Fresh water should always be available. Dry food should only be offered sparingly or as treats. Nibbles, crackers, and the like are marketing gimmicks by food manufacturers and are more harmful to the rabbit. For inquiries and advice:. This cat is to be kept indoors only.

Rasse: Stallkaninchen-Mix Geschlecht: männlich, kastriert am 1. April 2026. About Alan

What life with Alan looks like

Alan is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed rabbit waiting at Tierheim Feucht in Feucht.

Rabbits are social animals — most shelters recommend adopting them in bonded pairs rather than alone. They need fresh hay daily, several hours of out-of-cage time, and rabbit-safe spaces to explore. They live eight to twelve years, longer than many people expect.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Alan, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Alan?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Feucht handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Alan on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Alan if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Feucht will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Alan already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most rabbits on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Alan isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Feucht early rather than rehoming privately; they know Alan and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
