AlbaRESERVIERT ID-No.: 1049199 Breed: mixed breed Age: *10/2020 Gender: female shoulder height: approx. 72 cm neutered/Sterilized: Yes Accommodation / Location: Marbella (Spain) Inquiry form Alba - a gentle soul with a smile Alba (*10/2020, approx. 72 cm) is a large, impressive female dog with a particularly affectionate character. When she arrived at our partner animal shelter in Marbella, she was neither microchipped nor in good condition - her thick, fluffy coat was covered with countless ticks. With much care and patience, she was looked after and nursed back to health. From the very first moment, it became clear how friendly and gentle Alba is. She belongs to the calmest and most sensitive dogs in the animal shelter. She is very approachable towards people - she enjoys every caress to the fullest and seems to smile genuinely. She particularly loves to snuggle close to her humans or lie directly in front of them to have her stomach scratched. Once she has found a comfortable position, she can lie relaxed for hours and simply enjoy the presence. Despite her quiet nature, Alba also has a playful side. During walks, she occasionally shows little "zoomies", runs off joyfully, makes a few rounds, and then comes back to lovingly nudge her humans and invite them to join. In interactions with other dogs, Alba is calm and polite. She avoids conflicts and in uncertain situations, she relies on her humans instead of taking the initiative. She currently lives alone in the kennel, but will probably be housed with other dogs soon. For Alba, we are looking for a rather quiet home with a balanced lifestyle. She loves nature, peace, and simple company with her humans. A hectic city life would probably be too stressful for her, so we are looking for a home in the green, ideally with a garden or another secure outdoor area. Alba can live as a single dog or be rehomed with a friendly only dog. Children in the household should be firm - she would certainly appreciate additional hands to stroke. Alba is also well suited for older people as she walks calmly and pleasurably on the leash. Alba has already been tested for Mediterranean diseases and is currently being treated due to a positive leishmania titer. For travel arrangements, she is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and has an EU pet passport. In addition, she has been dewormed and treated for fleas. About Alba

What life with Alba looks like

Alba is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Helfende Hände e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Alba, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Alba?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Helfende Hände e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Alba on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Alba if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Helfende Hände e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Alba already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Alba isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Helfende Hände e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Alba and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
