Alba

Mixed Breed · Female

A charming young lady in black and white has found her way to our partners - almost escorted by the local police. Naturally, Alba is certainly not a runaway. No, our new arrival was discovered by attentive neighbors on a field, all alone and in a rather poor condition. They reported their find to the police, but never thought to help the obviously injured female dog. By the time our Spanish friends arrived at the location, Alba had unfortunately already disappeared again... Two days later she turned up again and could finally be caught - with a broken hind leg she probably wouldn't have survived much longer outside... Of course, the first stop was the veterinary clinic, where she was operated on and her leg set. Now a really pretty lady is emerging, although Alba's haircut is currently more "interesting" than beautiful. But fur does grow back, and a lion's mane style also has its own charm. We naturally don't know where the approximately two- to three-year-old dog came from or what story she might tell us about her past, nor do we know if she was abandoned because of her injury. However, it is certain that Alba is developing wonderfully in her foster home. That she is already putting weight on her operated leg is one of the positive aspects, but much more important is that she is a real cuddle monster. Alba enjoys every kind of affection to the fullest, follows her foster mother everywhere, but is never pushy, she just wants to be near people. Calm and balanced, she takes part in everyday life and can hardly wait until she can finally snuggle up close to her human on the couch again. Now all that is missing for our little vagabond's great happiness is a proper, permanent family. Probably Alba won't be the right choice for people who especially value jogging or cycling with their four-legged friend, but she definitely wants long walks and experience some adventures in nature by the side of her humans. Who could resist our beautifully cute little sugar face?

DE·Show original

About Alba

What life with Alba looks like

Alba is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Alba, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Alba?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Alba on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Alba if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Alba already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Alba isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Alba and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
