Adopt Alda

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

A sweet animal who is not happy here in the shelter. Alda was caught at the Hessenpoort and luckily so because she would have had a hard winter otherwise. We list her as a stray cat but at the veterinarian it turned out that she is spayed and has no ear bite. So it almost certainly means that she once had a home. Here she is in a space and blows and hits it hard when we are nearby. We had her microchipped, vaccinated, etc. and think it's really time for a nice and safe home now. She seems unsuitable for inside, but she would do very well as a mouse catcher in a barn where she does get her food. Maybe after getting used to it, she will also change and the new owner will see another side of her. In short, we are looking for a place where she is safe, where she can sit dry and where she gets food. In the photo she is difficult, she really doesn't want to unfortunately, she is estimated to be around 2 years old.

About Alda

What life with Alda looks like

Alda is a young adult mixed breed cat waiting at Flappus in Netherlands.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Alda, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Alda?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Flappus handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Alda on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Alda if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Flappus will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Alda already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Alda isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Flappus early rather than rehoming privately; they know Alda and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
