Alex

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 4 months

Alex is a four-month-old puppy weighing just 6 kilograms. He has his whole life ahead of him, although his start was far from ideal. Together with his mother, he was rescued from terrible conditions where he never knew carefree childhood – living in filth, full of fleas and without basic care. Upon arrival at the shelter, his life finally began to take a better turn. Day by day, Alex becomes more confident in himself, and what he is – a happy, playful and curious puppy – comes out to the surface. He loves exploring, playing, socializing with other dogs and enjoying every new experience. Alex is gentle, affectionate and loves human company. Every day he discovers more how nice it is to be safe, loved and surrounded by care. He is looking for a family that will provide him with a happy upbringing, full of patience, play and love. After a difficult start, Alex finally deserves a home where he can grow up without fear and become someone's best friend for life.

HR·Show original

About Alex

What life with Alex looks like

Alex is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Azil Dubrovnik in Croatia.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇭🇷Adopting from Croatia

Croatian shelters include sterilization, vaccinations, and microchip ID in the adoption process. Several work with Italian and German rescue networks for placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Alex, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Alex?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Azil Dubrovnik handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Alex on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Alex if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Azil Dubrovnik will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Alex already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Alex isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Azil Dubrovnik early rather than rehoming privately; they know Alex and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
