Alexander

Mixed Breed Cat · Male · Adult · 5 years

Alexander is a gorgeous boy with a quiet and loving nature. He can be a little shy when he first meets you, but once he realises you’re there to give him some fuss, his sweet personality really starts to shine through. He loves having his face rubbed and will even show off his very best meerkat impression while enjoying the attention! He may be quiet at first, but there’s definitely a little bit of sass hiding underneath, giving him plenty of character.Having previously lived alongside other cats, he is well socialised with them and may be able to share his new home with another cat. Although we don’t know whether he has lived with dogs before, he has shown potential to live with a calm, cat-savvy dog following suitable introductions. We feel a home with teenagers or older would suit him best, as he can be shy at times and will appreciate having the space to settle in at his own pace.Once fully settled into his new home, he will need access to the outside world where he can enjoy exploring his surroundings.Alexander is a wonderfully sweet boy who just needs a little time to show you how loving he can be. Once you’ve earned his trust, you’ll have a very special companion by your side.

About Alexander

What life with Alexander looks like

Alexander is a adult mixed breed cat cat waiting at RSPCA Cornwall Branch in Saint Columb.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Alexander, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Alexander?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. RSPCA Cornwall Branch handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Alexander on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Alexander if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — RSPCA Cornwall Branch will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Alexander already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Alexander isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with RSPCA Cornwall Branch early rather than rehoming privately; they know Alexander and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
