Texas is a 6-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier mix. Entering the shelter as a puppy, he had the chance to be adopted. Unfortunately, his happiness was abruptly cut short by the tragic disappearance of his human. For three long years, he has been back at the shelter, waiting for a second chance. Texas impresses. By his build, his vigilance, and that intense gaze that observes everything. He is an excellent guard dog, with a protective nature, and can be intimidating at first. But for the one or one who can pass this barrier, a different dog is revealed: a loyal companion, extremely intelligent, deeply loyal. He is sensitive, endearing, and gives everything to those who earn his trust. He is not a dog to be entrusted to just anyone. He needs a structured home without young children, no cats, and no small dogs. However, he is social with medium to large-sized dogs. He is not a runner, but he cannot tolerate loneliness well: he can destroy things if left alone for too long. He is a dog who needs stability, regular presence, and most importantly, a clear structure. With him, you need to be gentle in the relationship but firm in the rules. Texas is a dog marked by life, but he is far from broken. He simply awaits the person who will understand him, guide him, and give him a place that is rightfully his. Texas est un croisé American Staffordshire Terrier âgé de 6 ans. Entré au refuge alors qu’il n’était qu’un chiot, il avait eu la chance d’être adopté. Malheureusement, son bonheur a été brutalement interrompu par la disparition tragique de son humain. Depuis, cela fait trois longues années qu’il est de retour au refuge, dans l’attente d’une seconde chance. Texas impressionne. Par sa carrure, par sa vigilance, par ce regard intense qui observe tout. C’est un excellent gardien, au caractère protecteur, et il peut intimider au premier abord. Mais pour celui ou celle capable de passer cette barrière, c’est un tout autre chien qui se révèle : un compagnon fidèle, extrêmement intelligent, profondément loyal. Il est sensible, attachant, et il donne tout à ceux qui gagnent sa confiance. Ce n’est pas un chien à confier à n’importe qui. Il a besoin d’un foyer structurant, sans enfants mineurs, sans chats, et sans chiens de petite taille. Il est cependant sociable avec les chiens de gabarit moyen à grand. Il n’est pas fugueur, mais il supporte très mal la solitude : il peut détruire s’il reste seul trop longtemps. C’est un chien qui a besoin de repères, de stabilité, d’une présence régulière, et surtout, d’un cadre clair. Avec lui, il faut être doux dans la relation, mais ferme dans les règles. Texas est un chien marqué par la vie, mais il est loin d’être brisé. Il attend simplement la personne qui saura le comprendre, le guider et lui redonner une place digne de ce nom.
