ALI DOG

Pointer · Male · Adult · 5 years

(pound / Unknown Past) ALI DOG is a young dog, nearly 4 years old, rather independent, very playful, and full of energy. He is an endearing little guy but enjoys his peace and quiet. He will need a family without children and people who are willing to spend time with our gentle ALI. He has very good basic training, which should be continued with kindness and consistency. He shows resource guarding behavior regarding his food and when he digs holes. In fact, ALI digs when he gets bored, and clearly the shelter bores him and doesn't stimulate him enough. He loves going for walks, smelling all sorts of new scents, and swimming. However, he cannot live with other dogs; he tolerates them on walks but does not get along with them at all. He does not get along with cats. ALI can live in a house but is not sure of it, so he could very well live outside the house with an appropriate shelter. This animal is not suitable for homes with young children. This animal is for adult-only homes.

FR·Show original

About ALI DOG

What life with ALI DOG looks like

ALI DOG is a medium-sized adult pointer dog waiting at Bouguenais) in Nantes.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Resource guarding with food and digging spots, tendency to dig when bored, cannot live with other dogs or cats

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting ALI DOG, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about ALI DOG?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Bouguenais) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw ALI DOG on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt ALI DOG if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Bouguenais) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is ALI DOG already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if ALI DOG isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Bouguenais) early rather than rehoming privately; they know ALI DOG and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
