Alice

Poodle · Female · Young · 2 years

03-10-26 Alice has come to us from a breeder to find the loving forever home she deserves. She is a very sweet girl who is understandably feeling quite worried and overwhelmed to find herself here with us. Alice is nervous about being handled and when she becomes worried, she can start to shake. However, she is already beginning to learn that human hands can be kind and that she doesn't need to be afraid of gentle attention. Alice will be looking for a calm and quiet home with adopters who have experience with ex-breeding dogs and understand that she will need time, patience and reassurance as she learns to trust. Her new family will need to allow her to settle in at her own pace. We would consider a home with gentle, dog-savvy teenagers aged 13+. Alice relies on other dogs for comfort and reassurance and having another kind and confident resident dog in her new home will be very important for her. A canine friend will help her to feel safe, settle into her new surroundings and hopefully give her the confidence to start coming out of her shell. Alice has never lived in a home before, so everything about family life will be completely new to her. Her adopters will need to be patient and understanding as she learns about home life and new skills like house training. She will also need to learn all about walking on a lead and harness, first by practicing around the garden. Alice is a gentle and very sweet girl who is only just beginning to discover that people can be kind and that she is safe. With the right home, plenty of patience and a kind canine friend by her side, we hope she will slowly find her confidence and blossom into the happy little girl we know is hiding underneath her worries. Alice has a travel document. This dog can be homed with a resident dog.

About Alice

What life with Alice looks like

Alice is a young adult poodle dog waiting at Many Tears Animal Rescue in Llanelli.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Alice, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Alice?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Many Tears Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Alice on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Alice if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Many Tears Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Alice already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Alice isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Many Tears Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Alice and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
