Adopt Alice (vermittelt)

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 3 months

Name Alice Born around September 2024 Gender female dog Breed mixed breed Size expected to be medium/large by February 2025 (February 2025: just under 16 kilos) foster home Alice our wonderful little girl doggie found a beautiful new home super fast. We wish Alice, now Nona, and her new pack an exciting time and that they form a relaxed team. The ages mentioned here are often estimates, as we don't always know the exact age. Other information like size is subjective. First update February 2025: Alice got to travel to a great foster home. There she lives with an adult female dog, and after a short time, the ice was broken, and they played and rambunctiously had fun. She shows a bit of shyness at first but warms up very quickly and is then typically young-dog playful and a little clown 😉 Doggy encounters outside are relaxed. She observes quietly who passes by. Cyclists, prams, and children are no problem. …… unfortunately, the little doggy mouse does not live in Wonderland… Our animal protection colleagues on Crete found her alone wandering around Heraklion. She was only a few weeks old and would not have survived alone…. Fortunately, a foster home was found for her that often hosts many dogs. Of course, this is not like a foster home we have here in Germany. But at least she is now in safety. They write about Alice: Alice is now about 13-14 weeks old and currently (December 2024) weighs just under 7 kilos. She can now receive her vaccination program and would be ready to fly by the end of January. She is expected to weigh around 30 kilos when fully grown. Alice lives in a foster home with other dogs and shows absolute compatibility. She has already met cats. She is so adorable, she will be a great family dog, perfect for growing up with children. She already sleeps the whole night through in a crate without complaining. She does great in the car. Walking on a leash is something she still doesn't know, but she will surely learn it soon. Of course, she is a young dog who needs to learn the dog multiplication tables and will also sometimes "hit the strictness." We are looking for people who are willing to take on the adventure of an international dog and give him a second chance at a responsible home. About Alice (vermittelt)

What life with Alice (vermittelt) looks like

Alice (vermittelt) is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. in Zornheim.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Alice (vermittelt), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Alice (vermittelt)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Alice (vermittelt) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Alice (vermittelt) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Alice (vermittelt) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Alice (vermittelt) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Alice (vermittelt) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
