Alicja

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 5 years

A few months ago, Alicja was hit by a bus, and her "owner" wanted to bury her alive. Fortunately, a neighbor noticed what was happening, was not indifferent, and saved her from a cruel fate. Alicja underwent surgery in Ukraine, where her hind leg was amputated, and her ovaries and uterus were removed. Unfortunately, there are no appropriate conditions for further treatment in Ukraine, so Alicja came to Poland, where she will be able to continue her rehabilitation and has a better chance of finding a home. Despite all the misfortunes, Alicja is full of optimism and joy. She loves people and cats, and she does very well on walks. She keeps herself clean. She is an amazing and brave dog who, despite her difficult experiences, has not lost her composure. Alicja cries a lot in her box for a person; life in the shelter is not easy for her. Alicja is very curious about the world and gets along well with other dogs. We are looking for a permanent or temporary home for Alicja; life in the shelter is very difficult for her. In case of temporary adoption, we cover the costs of food and treatment. Female dog is spayed and vaccinated. She is about 4-5 years old and weighs about 13 kg. Please share this story and help find a new home for Alicja! 🐾❤️ "One sees clearly only with the heart. The most important thing is invisible to the eyes."

PL·Show original

W przypadku adopcji tymczasowej pokrywamy koszty wyżywienia i leczenia. Suczka jest wykastrowana i zaszczepiona. Ma około 4-5 lat i waży około 13 kg. Prosimy, dzielcie się tą historią i pomóżmy znaleźć Alicji nowy dom! 🐾❤️ „Dobrze widzi się tylko sercem. Najważniejsze jest niewidoczne dla oczu.”

About Alicja

What life with Alicja looks like

Alicja is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja EkoStraż in Wrocław.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Alicja, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Alicja?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja EkoStraż handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Alicja on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Alicja if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja EkoStraż will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Alicja already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Alicja isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja EkoStraż early rather than rehoming privately; they know Alicja and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
