adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Alisa is learning a new life—on three legs. After a tough start, she is now ready for her biggest wish: her own home that offers her safety and trust. The approximately 2-year-old female dog measures around 64 cm at the shoulder and weighs about 34 kg. She belongs to the larger breeds. Her left hind leg had to be amputated after a serious accident when she was a puppy. The injuries were so severe that amputation was the only way to ensure her a pain-free life. Thanks to intensive physiotherapy and good aftercare, Alisa today walks steadily and safely on three legs. Apart from a good weight control, she does not require any further medical treatments. Currently, Alisa is in a pension waiting for her people. She is very social with other dogs and shows no meeting problems. On the leash, she walks calmly, travels relaxed in the car, and is about 90% house-trained—only the small remainder needs to be reinforced in her new home. People-wise, Alisa is initially very shy. She needs time—and not just a little of it. Trust grows in her slowly and must be allowed to develop. She is much more cautious around men than women. However, once her trust is won, she shows incredible cuddliness, sensitivity, and affection. Then she seeks closeness and enjoys quiet affection very much. Alisa is generally environmentally insecure. A rural, very low-stress environment would be ideal for her. Hectic, much commotion, or a turbulent city life would overwhelm her. A house with a securely fenced garden in barrier-free surroundings would be perfect, so she can move freely and safely. Due to her missing hind leg, her new home should ideally be on an even floor. Rassetypically, Alisa shows a prey drive and reacts strongly to movement stimuli like birds or passing cars, which she also comments on with barking. Freelauf has not been trained. Therefore, cats should not live in her new home. Older, sensible children are welcome to be part of the family, provided they respect Alisa's need to retreat and do not pressure her. In the perfect home, Alisa can simply arrive—without expectations, without pressure. She needs people who understand patience not as a phase but as husbandry. People who give her time, offer clear and calm structures, and appreciate small progress. Alisa is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and has an EU pet passport. She will receive a special female dog with a special history—sensitive, loyal, and full of potential. On three legs, but with a whole heart. Many thanks, Natalie, for giving Alisa her name. A big thank you also goes to Sandra Sch., Manuela O., and Maije v. D., who each took on a monthly sponsorship for Alisa. Many thanks to Sabina Wiggins for the beautiful pictures of Alisa! As of: 23.02.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen!

About Alisa

What life with Alisa looks like

Alisa is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Alisa, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Alisa?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Alisa on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Alisa if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Alisa already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Alisa isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Alisa and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
