Aljoscha

adoption requirements adoption process Now adopt this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Aljoscha has found a home! His story: This handsome male dog, who has made himself comfortable on the leather sofa, is named Aljoscha. Unfortunately, the sofa is in the public shelter in Baia Mare and he has to share it with many other dogs. Much rather, he would have his own sofa or even better—a big couch to share with his people, and a cozy kennel of his own in his own home. Do you still have a spot free for Aljoscha? Aljoscha is 55 cm in shoulder height and has a medium size. His age is estimated to be 10 years, so he belongs more to the senior dogs. The more we hope that he does not have to spend his last years in the shelter. Not much is known about his past; he was picked up by dog catchers on the street and brought to the shelter. There, he shows friendliness towards people and other dogs, only sometimes a bit jealous. He probably longs for a lot of undivided attention! We are looking for a loving family for Aljoscha that will embrace him as deeply as he will embrace his family. He deserves a few more happy years of freedom and security. We are sure that he will quickly understand the rules of a household. After a suitable adjustment period, he can certainly still learn something, because even though it might take a bit longer for him to remember something due to his age, the joint practice can still be fun and strengthen the bond between human and dog. Aljoscha travels microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. He brings his EU pet passport and can move in after a positive health check. Do you want to let the sweet senior with the gray muzzle move in with you? Many thanks Lupine! You gave Aljoscha his pretty name. Many thanks Silvia K. and Tamara K.! You support Aljoscha with a monthly sponsorship! As of: 27.08.

Vielen Dank Lupine! Du hast Aljoscha seinen hübschen Namen geschenkt. Vielen Dank Silvia K. und Tamara K.! Ihr unterstützt Aljoscha mit einer monatlichen Patenschaft! Stand: 27.08.2023

About Aljoscha

What life with Aljoscha looks like

Aljoscha is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Aljoscha, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Aljoscha?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Aljoscha on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Aljoscha if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Aljoscha already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Aljoscha isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Aljoscha and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
