Almi

Chihuahua · Female · Adult · 4 years

Chihuahua Almi is an uncomplicated female dog looking for her fortune. Almi is a ca. 4-year-old female dog weighing about 3.8 kg and belongs to the slightly larger, more robust representatives of her breed. Above all, however, she is one thing: an absolute beginner dog. She meets people openly and friendly and is simply incredibly uncomplicated in everyday life. She has no fears, shows herself to be very social with other dogs outdoors, and brings a wonderfully relaxed, balanced demeanor with her. She is rather the quiet and comfortable enjoyer, no dog who constantly needs action or mental stimulation. Instead of wild play or running, Almi loves one thing most: proximity. She is incredibly cuddly and would rather be cuddled, loved, and spoiled a lot. People find her simply wonderful and enjoy every bit of attention. Whether as a companion for individuals, couples, or families, Almi adapts to her person wonderfully. Children should only understand how to handle a small dog respectfully. She could also be an excellent office dog or companion in social settings, as she has a very pleasant, quiet nature and is simply happy to be there. On the leash, she already walks well, although she finds sweaters a bit superfluous and prefers to walk at a leisurely pace. The only issue that still needs to be worked on is house training, which she doesn’t always manage reliably. With a bit of patience and loving routine, Almi will surely learn this quickly. Please note that the Chihuahua is among the breeds that are subjected to inhumane breeding practices. At the moment, Almi is doing well, but no one can guarantee that this will continue. More information about this can be found on our information page. If you are looking for an uncomplicated, relaxed, and absolutely lovable little companion, you will really get a special dog with Almi.

About Almi

What life with Almi looks like

Almi is a adult chihuahua dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Almi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Almi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Almi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Almi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Almi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Almi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Almi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
