adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Alva has found its own home! Her story: 41464 Neuss. Alva has been in Germany for about a month and is searching for her own family. She shows herself in her foster home as a really simple and uncomplicated female dog, but let her tell her story: Hello, I am Alva, a 6-year-old, 15 kg, 31 cm mixed-breed female dog. My foster moms think I look like a German Shepherd with legs that have been in the dryer. Who knows, maybe my ancestors were something like German Shepherd Dachshund Corgi mixes?! Currently, I live on a foster home in Neuss with 2 other dogs. After a short adjustment phase, I get along super with both of them. Sometimes I also very much orient myself to the older female dog. I was house-trained within 2 days and going on a leash works super for me too. Even stairs are no problem for me. Due to my short legs, I should be carried up the stairs, but I don't mind that at all. I learn super fast and have fun discovering new things. Outdoors, I currently show prey drive, but I learn really quickly and that is definitely trainable. With other dogs, I get along well, but I have not yet met any cats here. I love people, whether big or small, male or female. As soon as I see a person, I roll over and want to be scratched. If I once have a person in my heart, I don't let them go and would like to spend 24/7 with them. Nevertheless, I have already learned to stay alone for a few hours in my foster home. As I am a pretty smart girl, I of course look forward to some intelligence games now and then. I wish for my own home with a warm bed and great people who enjoy learning new things with me, cuddling, and long walks. Alva is vaccinated, microchipped, neutered, dewormed, and treated for fleas. She will only be rehomed after positive control and for an adoption fee of 450 Euro. She brings her EU pet passport with her. Many thanks Lea and Lena! You gave Alva her name!

About Alva

What life with Alva looks like

Alva is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Alva, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Alva?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Alva on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Alva if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Alva already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Alva isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Alva and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
