Alvin

Mixed Breed Cat · Male

Description Our animal welfare workers report: Alvin is a beautiful tigeroated tomcat who has already endured much suffering in his first year of life. He was found in an underground drainage canal in a city district where there are usually no street cats. We cannot explain how he ended up there. Most likely, someone abandoned him. He was completely frightened but allowed us to catch him. Alvin lives peacefully with other cats in our animal shelter. He is loving, playful, and sometimes a bit cheeky. Age-appropriately, he loves to play and explore the world. Alvin has learned to trust his caregivers and now enjoys extensive cuddles. Initially, he is still reserved with strangers. We wish for Alvin a loving home where he can receive more time and attention. He wants to experience and discover so much more. Who will fall in love with the beautiful tiger and give him his own kingdom where he can further develop his sweet nature? Alvin has already packed his entire charm into his suitcase. He is just waiting to board the bus to his new life. Who would like to share their life with him? The animal presented here comes from an animal shelter/foster home that houses many animals. We are searching for a loving and safe home for these animals. The descriptions are brief because there simply isn't time to provide detailed descriptions during our daily work to care for all the animals. If interested, a detailed description can be requested by sending your questions directly to the provided email address. We will do our best to respond as soon as possible. A loving home is sought for Alvin. Our cats are neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and come with an EU Pass, if their age and health status allow. Additionally, they are tested for FELV/FIV. We look forward to your contact.

About Alvin

What life with Alvin looks like

Alvin is a adult mixed breed cat cat waiting at Tierischgeholfen e.V. in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Alvin, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Alvin?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierischgeholfen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Alvin on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Alvin if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierischgeholfen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Alvin already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Alvin isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierischgeholfen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Alvin and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
